It's BSG Day!

1. What job do you have, and why do you like/hate it?
At the moment I hold dibs on the "Slacker" career track (thank you, Sims 2) and work the odd job here or there. I am a newly minted RN, though, and will hopefully find employment in the near future. Much love for nursing, because there's something to be said for a job that calls for tons for tons of critical thinking and allows intensive contact with other human beings.

2. As a kid, what did you want to be when you "grew up?"
I had this friend who was somewhat fixated on the female anatomy and her desire to become a gynecologist rubbed off on me. There we were, two ten year old kids with dreams of wielding a speculum. That lasted for a couple of years, and then around high school I decided I wanted to be a psychologist. I had a few friends suffering under mental illness and wanted to know I'd be there to help them in a professional skilled manner. The gyno friend is currently in law school; I dunno, I just find that funny.

3. Is the job you have now anything like what you imagined as a kid?
Being unemployed is everything I thought it'd be. *grin* I'll be able to answer this question by years end, I suppose. In the most general sense nursing is nothing I'd believed it to be. It's not the object servitude and maid gig popular media would have us believe. Being a nurse is much more difficult and infinitely more emotionally fulfilling than I could have ever imagined.

4. Do you have a five-year career plan?
Work in a hospital. After getting past the one year probation period enroll in grad school part-time in pursuit of a masters so I can practice as a nurse practitioner in psychiatry (or family practice - I'm undecided but I'll have a year to make up my mind). At the end of five years purchase a house. That's as far as I've gotten at the moment.

5. In order to get the job of your dreams, is there anything you wouldn't do? Why?
Morals, baby: no homicide, no sexual favors, no double-crossing. Gotta be able to live with oneself in the morning, no?
