fredericks: (Being Veep is hard work *snore*)

(no subject)

My brother made a comment the other day about the way my room is beginning to slowly resemble a Blockbuster. Some people indulge in shoes, some in clothing; my weakness seems to be DVD box sets with an occasional CD thrown in (hel-loooooooooo Virgin's $10 Sacrilege Sale). During Amazon's latest DVD TV series sale I picked up The Lone Gunmen, The Complete Office Series (UK), and S1 of Stargate Atlantis. I'm surprised by how much I liked the first eppy of Atlantis, and hope for more time to make my way through it all. Then the other day I picked up S1 of Extras (sorta wish I had HBO so I could check out S2, but oh well). I have the complete Kids in the Hall DVD set on my wish list along with the complete Sports Night DVD. I was scoping out LOGO this evening and I saw Josh Charles in Threesome (was sort of interesting but Charles's character's VO was too over-the-top for me to watch more than 15 minutes), and that reminded me to add Sports Night.

That last sentence made some sense in my head, I swear.

I'm tired. Like, to the crazy-th degree. I've done three shifts on nights so far and things haven't been horrible, but I have yet to get a solo patient load. I spend a lot of time questioning my ability, and I guess it's par for the course when one's at any new job. BUT... *sigh*. I can be appallingly slow on the occasion, and I feel like my brain's been stuck on "molasses" during my training up to this point. I wonder if it's the stress I feel while working that screws me over, makes it hard for me to *think* and *recall*. It's very frustrating.

Interestingly enough, I have been thinking about addictions to buying and collecting things, such as DVDs, Cds, and so on. It’s easy to fall into a trap and become addicted to buying and collecting things until it seems that’s one’s living space is nothing, but said things.

I'm totally with you on the dvd collection deal. Dan and I totally need a new dvd shelf. But we also have a friend who has so many, he had to put some in storage.

Dvds are my big indulgence too. I have actually run out of space on all my shelves, but it's not stopping me from buying more.

DVD box sets are the best thing since sliced bread. I used to tape my favorite television shows, but these DVDs are much better. I'd probably buy more if some of them weren't so freakin' much. I'm thinking $40 should be the limit.

Well, HBO's been promoting the hell out of Extras so I felt obligated to watch it last night. I liked it. It's not fantastic but it is funny. I put season one in my Netflix que.

Oh, and I loved the Lone Gunmen. Wish that show would have lasted longer.

I've never been a big one for purchasing DVDs though I did buy Susie the first 3 seasons of Gilmore Girls last year. Aside from The Office (which I can see Susie buying) there aren't much that we both watch, and even the series I may watch like BSG and Stargate I have friends who buy them and I just borrow them afterwards.

Sports Night was a good show :)

FYI - Stargate Atlantis is not on HBO it is on the Sci-Fi channel. Unless you HBO has some things to reshow S2... (if so gomen).
