1. Riding in cars (with boys): Sitting back and watching the scenery go by, soothing in every sense of the word.
2. Re-reading a good book: Because reading is an obvious pleasure.
3. Recorder sonatas: An instrument with an earthy quality and sound just barely surpassed by the oboe in my book. The nice wooden ones, not the plastic ones with which we gave our junior high music teachers migranes.
4. Radiohead: Circa OK Computer, but it's all good. "Exit Music for a Film" still has the power to bring me to tears.
5. Rainy days: They make for great reading ambience, particularly when one's sheltered.
6. & 7. Receiving randomness from friends: I'm as antisocial as they come, but sometimes its nice to spread a little random cheer.
8. Rough nights at work: Because they *really* make you appreciate when things are going okay.
And I'm calling a raincheck on the rest. The brain's not cooperating at the moment. I move onto

Comment and I will name you 3 interests from your list, and 3 userpics and you explain them in your own post asking the same of your flisters.
Icons & Interests:
1.Cerebus - A comic book/graphic novel by Dave Sim. It starts out as a Conan-type lark about the title character, an anthropomorphized aarkvark, and grows into a scathing (and, okay, at times near-apoplectic) commentary on organized religion. I never quite made it all the way to the end of the series - something about making my way through a couple of pages of monologue on the evils of the church grew tired fast - but I thoroughly enjoyed what I did manage to read. Clever stuff.
2.Hypoglycemic geniuses/wild-haired flyboys - My fannish take on McKay and Sheppard from Stargate Atlantis. I amuse myself whenever and however I can.
3. Silver and Cold - From the song by AFI. Its a musical tribute to Anne Rice's vamp work, which (again) amuses me. And it sounds nifty. It was one of those songs I played on "repeat" whenever I could.
4. Alto recorder - I have one, a nice wooden one. I play it whenever I can and listen to music for it with pleasure. I mentioned this in the last meme as well. :)
5. Overbites - What can I say? I'm a sucker for a nice one. Something about watching the tongue movement of a person with a smallish overbite does it for me.
- A snippet from the anime FullMetal Alchemist, it's a bit of levity from Edward Elric as he attempts to get the bad guys's attention. Nice announcement icon, I thought.
- Gah. I think this was referenced in Queer as Folk US, but I have it as an icon because I thought it weirdly hilarious.
- This was definitely from Queer as Folk US, that bastion of lazy writing and somewhat cheesy storylines. At the end of the first season a 16 year-old character named Justin attended prom with his 30 year-old paramour (Brian) and then became the victim of a brutal incident of gay bashing afterward. The beginning of the next season dealt, in part, with Justin's recovery. This recovery (in)famously involved Justin's mother telling Brian to "take [her] son, please"...as in, let Justin move in with Brian and have sex on a regular basis. This took sexual healing to a ridiculous new level and was just, you know, bad. But the show was cotton candy, what can I say? Anyway, the icon came from an episode back in the beginning of Justin's recovery, where he flipped out on seeing another character spill a platter of pasta with red sauce on herself. I laughed my ass off. God, that show had its moments.
- A waaaay scaled down version of the fabulous Michael Whelan's "Glimpse". When you view the large image available on the website it seems to be a scene of hope and subtle mystery. The scaled down image just maintains the latter. Either way I thought it lovely and it struck a cord, hence my use of it as my default.
- The image is supposed to dance. That was the appeal: dancing Spidey. Simple, no?
- Tigh is a character from Battlestar Galactica. This is him pre-New Caprica (fans know what I'm talking about). His "my ass!" + the raised eyebrow was (is?) classic.
That took a hella long time for me to post. Today, the brolets and I saw "Hot Fuzz". Oh. My. God., that movie was hilarious. Y'all really weren't kidding. "By the power of Greyskull", indeed.
