One year older

I'm pretty sure that when I was younger I would ask the 'rents for specific birthday presents. Don't hold me to it, but I think I asked for a pony of the My Little variety a couple of times. After the whole "you're the oldest" schtick got pounded into my head I stopped requesting things and accepted what I was given, if anything. Well, thank God that whole episode passed. My old ass asked the fam for a video iPod without shame, and I got it. I was going to buy it along with an iMac Pro anyway, so it's nice to be able to save the money. So far the only thing I've ordered from iTunes is S3 of Stargate Atlantis.

The day itself was laid back. I went into work Monday night because they were short-staffed; I'd initially set up my schedule so I had five days off in a row, but when they called I opted to go in if they gave me Wednesday night off. The night was peaceful on my end, although one nurse did have a semi-code. I came in and went to sleep, then woke up to mom cooking for a mini-party. I lazed around before joining the folks. We did the cake-cutting and food eating, then bro, Jo, and I sat around watching Transformers: The Movie (I'm completely fan-stoked for the live action movie).

I can't believe I'm 27. I'm working full-time and making a respectable living, yes, but I'm still at home, still single, and still childless. The "at home" bit is due mostly because of financial considerations at the moment, but the last two things? Hmm. BUT I'm more or less happy, I'm in relatively okay health (afaik), and I'm paying off my debts. I suppose one can't ask for too much more.

Sounds like things are continuing to go wonderfully for you. Doesn't time fly way too fast for one's liking? ;)

I'm glad your day was filled with all of your favorite things! I was there in spirit, doncha know! ;)

happy birfday! that was a nice gift from your family.

and look, here is my non-patronizing, honest WoW (words of wisdom): seriously 27 is not old. I didnt meet my husband until we were 27 and didnt get married for another 5 years and another 5 years until we had a kid. Things are different nowadays - a lot of people (especially college educated white collar working/middle class if you want a very roundabout generalization) are getting married late and having kids late. Enjoy some *you* time - when you arent looking the perfect "one" for you will come along (at least it always seems to work that way). I know you arent complaining but i just wanted you to know that there's no schedule - i think you're doing awesome so get some cool, sexy outfits and get out and party (when you can lol i know you have a hectic schedule)!! I definately want to get to NYC this summer so you can party with us old folks (and a baby haha).

happy birthday, fellow gem!

the last 'graph sounds like where i'm at right now. then again, you're more chill about turning the big 2-7, and you're in a really solvent place (but can still have fun and stuff). good on you, good luck with your late 20s.

I didn't know it was your birthday! Happy Birthday! Now I must find something suitably cheesy and beach related to send as a belated present!
I hope you had a good day!

Happy (belated) Birthday! And congrats on the video iPod! I love mine. As far as getting "old". I'm already there with one foot in the grave! I'm 32 and already own a walker! Enjoy your youth! OH to be 27 again!

Happy belated birthday! Yay for June birthdays!

And don't worry too much about the "single, childless, and living at home in the mid-20s" thing. I've felt this too, several times. (See a few entries back for a conversation I had with my friends about this) But I'll tell you the same thing Shirley and Aiden told me: You've got a good future, and you're in a great career. You may be living at home right now and all that, but you're in a career that's rewarding and helps people out, and not a lot of people can say that. :)

Thank you for the birthday wishes. :)

I got quite maudlin around my birthday hence my post. I know I hardly am in a bad situation right now, and I'm quite grateful. Sometimes I just need to vent.
