How it's gotta be

Baby, I gave you a chance. You were my type, see: pretty, subtle hint of mystery, straight out of my fantasies. I brought you around my friends, my family. I couldn't stop talking about you. We slumped a bit halfway through our first year, but there was a bit of a bang at the end so all was forgiven and forgotten. You left for a bit and, you know, I was okay. I kept talking about you. You know that, right? I'd wonder how you were doing, what you had planned for the next time we met. Baby, I was STOKED.

Then last week you came around again. It...it wasn't the same. They said absence makes the heart grow fonder and, baby, my heart was waitin' for you. Longing for you. My heart was *set* on "fond". And you trampled it with your sloppy talk and pointless rambling. Was that it all along? I think I figured out your game. Your pretty is just nice lighting. Your mystery is due to lazy writing. I gave you a chance this week, but you just left me hanging. Fool me twice, babe.

...

No, no. It's not ME. I'm not going to sugarcoat this one. This time, it's all you. Heroes, we're through.

Did you see that? I deleted you off my DVR. I'll catch you on the TWoP recap side. Be well. Continue to bring the pretty.

Poor Heroes. I've seen about eight episodes from the first half of the first season, but nothing else. Everyone :hearts: it so much. I figure I'll go back and catch it on DVD after the fact if it holds up.

it seems lately every *hot* show is going the tubes by season 2...

I think I expected too much from it. It has this infuriating pace: one step forward and two steps back. So little is resolved during each episode and then, *boom*, lots of stuff goes down way too fast to be very satisfying. Tons of anticipation, minimal payoff. And the writing is so sloppy. It's funny to think that I want a fantasy show to be somewhat believable but, yes, I want the writing to be believable. It can be done (see: BSG Season 1). I'll read the recaps and maybe might rent the DVDs. I don't even feel like rushing out and buying them, which is always a sign that I've lost interest.

I think it's still pretty popular. And the writing hasn't changed too much from the way things progressed during the second half of S1. I'm just not that into it anymore.
