Yeah, that idea of addiction coming from the need to fill a hole makes perfect sense.

Some time ago, several shows, coincidentally, were focusing on women who had gotten the bypass surgery and as such they couldn't eat to fill that hole, so many of them starting to turn to alcohol since they still had not addressed those psychological issues that cause them to overeat in the first place.
