A tale of two free tickets

I saw Rise of the Planet of the Apes a couple of weeks ago. Hated it. Hated it so much I was very tempted to walk out about 30 minutes in, but I didn't want to "waste" my free ticket so I stayed put. I found James Franco's acting to be painful, the story to be way too lax, and the pseudo-science entirely too distracting in its blatant disregard of any realism.

Saw Fright Night this evening, and I LOVED IT. Colin Farrell played his heart out, David Tennant's gentle mockery of both Russell Brand and Criss Angel was hilarious, and the story itself moved fast enough that I didn't spend too much time gnawing on plot holes.

Now if only The Avengers would magically show up in theatres some time before next year I'd be good.

Okay I am now convinced to go and see FRIGHT NIGHT. Thank you, cuz I wanted an excuse to drag my husband to it and couldn't think of one. Now I can say, "But I heard it was awesome!"

Also, I really wanted the apes to be cool. I am sad that they aren't, but not surprised. :/

Dudes, it's totally awesome. Fun popcorn flick, definitely. :)
