Behold the power of the spooooooooooon!

I have prepared dinner, and it is good.
I made this string bean casserole thing and, while I do hate to toot my own horn...sogood! /Iron Chef chick. It's amazing what a touch of white wine can do.
I need to get a job and have enough money to do things I enjoy. First thing up on the plate is taking cooking classes at the nearest culinary institute. Then comes continuing aikido. Next is archery, tied with German and Italian classes.

Memeage to wrap up my evening, lifted from [livejournal.com profile] melancthe's journal.

1. Grab the book nearest to you, turn to page 18, and find line 4.
"'It's Gentleman,' I said; and Phil at once put his knife away, and spat, and" (Fingersmith, Sarah Waters)

2. Stretch your left arm out as far as you can.
My window impedes the action.

3. What is the last thing you watched on TV?:
One year of VH1's "I Love the 80's Strikes Back". Might have been 1983.

4. Without looking, guess what time it is:
8 PM.

5. Now look at the clock. What is the actual time?
7:46 PM. Whoo. My mental powers.

6. With the exception of the computer, what can you hear?
My radiator coming to life.

7.When did you last step outside? What were you doing?
Walked to the grocery to pick up some things to cook.

8. Before you started this survey, what did you look at?
I was watching Seattle wax Carolina. Go whatever team looks the best! (I don't care now that the Pats and the Giants aren't anywhere to be found)

9. What are you wearing?
Black sweatpants and a green shirt.

10. Did you dream last night?
I don't recall. I think I did, and I think it wasn't pleasant, but it left me a couple of minutes after I got out of bed.

11. When did you last laugh?
I can't recall. Perhaps sometime last night while I was watching Underworld 2.

12. What is on the walls of the room you are in?
Numerous hooks with my clothes on them.

13. Seen anything weird lately?
Some dude whom I thought was asking for directions but instead tried to holler at me as I was walking to the grocery looking like shit. That whole set-up was weird as fuck.

14. What do you think of this quiz?
I actually thought it'd be more fun before I started doing it. Now I'm sort of praying for a finish. *ahem*

15. What is the last film you saw?
The previously mentioned Underworld 2.

16. If you became a multi-millionaire overnight, what would you do?
What WOULDN'T I do? Ha!
First I'd pay my bills, then my folks bills, then buy my folks a house. After that I don't know.

17. Tell me something about you that I don't know.
I really am a pretty quiet person.

18. If you could change one thing about the world, regardless of guilt or politics, what would you do?
Environmental pollution would be snapped into non-existence. I'd really like my great great great nieces and nephews to have breathable air and food.

19. Do you like to dance?
Only if there's a Revolution involved.

20. George Bush.
I didn't vote for him. Either of 'em.

21. Imagine your first child is a girl, what do you call her?
Aaliya or Lilandra

22. Imagine your first child is a boy, what do you call him?
Tristen

23. Would you ever consider living abroad?
I might. I don't know if I could stomach being that far away from all of my family, though.

24. What do you want God to say to you when you reach the pearly gates?
"Spoooooooooon!"

archery is fun. I want to do archery. and then buy a crossbow to threaten the door to door sales people with. or kiddos father. hmm. or I could load it up with flaming arrows and go pillage a small town somewhere... yes. that has possibililties.

Ya know, I worry about letting you by a weapon. At least we have an ocean separating us - Lord knows what would happen if I made [livejournal.com profile] lab_brat angry. I'd not like it if you were angry. *shudder*
:)

I'm stuck in the gamer mode - I love the coolness factor when my characters have a bow to use, but I've heard the "classic" bows are really hard to pull. I don't like the "busy" appearance of the modern bows either, but meh. Let me worry about that once I get on the range.

Have you done archery before?

I would love to take cooking classes, but I think my class order would be some kind of dance class followed by French classes and THEN cooking classes.

I simply cannot get my tongue around French. I've been rolling my tongue since birth so Italian and Spanish come to me rather easily, but French is the bane of my existence. God bless you for being able to manage it. :)

You are seriously thinking of naming your kid Lilandra? Holy crap, I'm a guy who has delusions of myself living in a comic book, but at least I'm not going to name my kid after Xavier's farkbuddy. :-p It's all good though.

[identity profile] fredericks.livejournal.com 2006-01-23 08:00 am (UTC)(link)
I think it's a pretty name.
And, dude - boys named after mermaid shouldn't throw stones. That's all I'm saying.

It's all good, though. *grin*

Okay, point made, but keep in mind that I was named after my dad--I have an excuse.

*grin* I do think Ariel is a cool name. And it's used for both genders, only thing not so much for males in the US. That's what makes it unique. Unique 9 times out of 10 = cool.

And my daughter's excuse will be that her mom made a childhood promise to name her Lilandra. No one but hardcore comic geeks will know where Lilandra came from. I don't worry about her being ostracized. If I do decide to use it, anyway.

Haha, archery - how cool! I have a friend who did that. Personally I get to the idea of doing it and then start worrying about skewering someone or something by accident and then bottle out.

It's amazing what a touch of white wine can do.

I used a fair bit of red wine in cooking this Christmas - what tastebud joy that was :)

I use whites mainly with fish and chicken, and reds with meats. Veggies and meat depend on my fancy. I used red on some pears to poach them and although I didn't give it enough time to actually sit and, uhm, "poachefy"?, it came out rather well.

Ha! Thoughts like that are the ones that spur me on! *grin*
