Stop the goddamned presses

::takes a minute to collect myself::

So I get it into my head to check out Internet Movie Database to see if I can find out how tall Lucy Lawless is. Don't ask me why, just one of those random things my brain gets fixated on when it's on autopilot. Right, so I check her page over and the first thing that pops up is the body of work. I glance over the listed BSG credits blahblahblah and then I see the thing at the very top: Dragonlance - Dragons of Autumn Twilight (filming) - Goldmoon.

OH MY FRAKKIN' GOD

But WAIT, this gets better/worse. After I'm done saying "oh my frakkin' God" a couple of times I click on the link to check out the movie's production page. And who's playing Tanis Half-Elven?

TEH ROSENBAUM!!!
Be still my heart.

Once my brain kicked in again I realized the production is animated so, *whew*, better. Here's a link. Kiefer Sutherland as Raistlin? He can do the raspy voice pretty well (see: Dark City), so cool beans. And much Phil Lamarr love. I can see this going straight-to-video, but that's okay. I'm disgustingly excited about how it might work out.

omg, I loved those books. Pretty good cast by the looks of it.

did you see there is an official site listed?

http://www.dragonlance-movie.com/

"An animated version of Dragons of Autumn Twlight is being produced for a worldwide commercial theatrical release."

Wait, did you see they had a new book out? "Dragon of the Dwarven Depths"? Why? Supposedly in takes place in-between what's going on in the other Dragon Trilogies. I enjoy what Weis and Hickman have put out (you've read The Deathgate Cycle, right?) but after so many years to throw out some more Chronicles stuff seems a bit redundant and ridiculous.

Did you ever continue reading DL? I'd started to but the writing declined a bit during the Jean Rabe years and when Weis and Hickman returned all these children of the main characters were coming in to do things and there were no gods and no magic all of a sudden and *boom* dozens of books were on the market and I was so confused. All I'd really like to know is - whatever happened to Palin and did Raistlin make another appearance?

Holy Jesus Crap.

This could be... wow. Actually, really good.

Wow.

*grin* I saw your post. I just 'bout went into an epileptic fit because of the icon, btw.

Oh yeah. I did warn people about that when I first got it. There's a non-spazzy version of it too.

Very cool, I hope they do it right. :) I think Kiefer Sutherland and Lucy Lawless are great choices. I'm not familiar with any of the others...

Of the ones I know: "teh Rosenbaum" aka Michael Rosenbaum plays Lex Luther on "Smallville" and did V.O. work on a couple of cartoons. Phil Lamarr used to be on Mad TV and also does V.O. work on cartoons. Lamarr and Rosenbaum both worked on Justice League and I'm totally geeking out about that. Oh, Michelle Trachtenburg was on "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" as Buffy's late-edition sister Dawn.

I'm hoping they do it right too. I haven't read the books in such a long time I'm going to have to do a bit of a refresher.
