1) What was the first CD/Record/Album/Artist you ever bought and what format was it in?
I'm pretty certain the first cassette I ever purchased (because the record player was my father's and he was mighty protective of it) was Mint Condition's second album. U Send Me Swingin' will forever be the shiz. The first CD I purchased (to play on my *computer*; I actually got a computer before I got a Discman, you believe that?) was Aerosmith's Get a Grip. I still have that CD somewhere, though I'm pretty sure it's scratched. It was the soundtrack to many-a-night of study sessions in junior high.
2) How do you usually listen to music? (iPod/Walkman/Stereo/Radio) CD player all the way. My MD player skips like crazy. Damn shame, as it was nifty.
3) What is your favorite genre of music and why? Don't really have a favorite. I do tend to listen to more rock-type stuff nowadays, but anything'll get a go if I deem it to have a catchy beat.
4) What is your opinion on music video shows and music television? The bulk of music videos and music television are for shit. I don't need an artist to prance around in silly outfits while emoting on-camera, I just need 'em to sound *good*. And don't effin' get me started on most of the popular dreck coming out of the hip-hop/rap community. It's to the point where my brothers think it's okay to watch women shaking their asses at a camera while three-quarters naked as a rapper goes on and on about how hard the "Game" is. Not that I'm disillusioned or bitter or disappointed in my people or anything.
5) Do you usually agree with who the winners of the Grammy Awards are? I don't watch the Grammys. I could care less.

I need to start submitting questions to The Five. There's rarely a week where all five of the questions are good.

I didn't get to watch last week's BSG, and this week's was a bit...? experimental? with the filming. I feel like I'm missing more than a couple of chunks of what's going on. At least Ray Kowalski Leoben managed to weasel his way into a handful of scenes. Jeez.

One more bit of random commentary: Gears of War's Mad World commercial always bowls me over. The look of the guy's face when he's confronted by that monster is heartbreakingly great.

Weird that I was talking about this as well tonight. I didn't even realize the spot was running on television when I saw it on BSG. What upset me is that they cut the beginning. There's a scene with the soldier rummaging through some rubble and debris when he finds part of the head of what was once a female statue. Its hard to tell but it looks like a tear drop falls into a puddle at his feet. He then begins to run as the enemy gives chase.

Last weeks BSG ep was pretty good but this weeks doesn't seem to mesh well. At least parts of it. I'll leave it at that in case you go back and watch.

I saw the entire commercial when I was searching for a link to put up in my journal. I didn't realize it was a full minute long. I also didn't realize they made it using the engine from the game. Coolness on both counts, although the 30 seconds they show on TV is moving (and inexpensive) enough.

I'll try to catch the Monday evening BSG repeat. TWoP is giving this episode big kudos.

Oh, you missed a good one last week. It was one of the better episodes, brought up a ton of issues that really boiled over in this week's episode. The weird stuff with Baltar and Six in this episode is just weird though - they seem to be going all 2001 with Baltar's presence on the Basestar, what with the funky colors and images and such. Not sure I am understanding where that all is going.

I read most of the recap so I *though* I knew where things were going, but the Baltar "2001" bits (as you called it) threw me. I guess those weren't explored last week. Last week was the whole pitch the New Caprica traitors eppy, I believe.

I think I just want my happy dismal searching for Earth while running from Cylons crew back. I want Gaeta to be on the bridge, I want Sal MFin' Tigh as XO, and I want Starbuck going crazy in a Viper. I'm afraid that the dismal atmosphere is getting to me. I'm not quite as gun-ho about watching the show anymore, although I do keep abreast of what's going on as best I can.
