I've always been prone to throat infections/discomfort, but this whole sinus thing I have going on is way beyond the mean. Perhaps it's a combination of nerves running my body and immune system ragged and the whole tending for ill people thing, but I've been sick as a dog. Over the last 48 hours I'm pretty sure I've slept through 40. The aching joints/sensitive skin bit made me thing "flu" (thanks, lady who'd just been taken off influenza precautions!) and I'm pretty sure fever had me delusional here and there but my thermometer kept saying it needed a goddamn battery so I'm not sure what I was spiking. The worst of it seems to have passed: I felt well enough this afternoon to get up and take a shower (I "woke up" at 3PM). Still can't smell anything so I'm not sure how effective it was. I work tomorrow, am off Friday, then work the weekend. Hopefully I recover enough Friday to make it through the weekend. Argh.

The beginning of S2 SG:A is meh, no? What's up with Ford? Did the actor piss off TPTB or something?

ETA - Excuse me whilst I go into Andy Rooney mode: DC's killing off Captain America? Who do they think they're kidding? Frankly, I'm surprised they waited so long to kill off another big name. Anyone remember the big to-do when Supes kicked the bucket? More importantly, anyone remember the sales bonanza it was for DC? And then, anyone remember how long it took for DC to bring Kal-El back from the dead? Stick a fork it in, DC [insert other grumpy old foggey phrases here].

AETA - Marvel, you're right. Just, ehm, re-read the above paragraph and substitute "Marvel" for DC.

With the current crop, I'm unsurprised, but still disgusted with Marvel's actions. I've dropped most of my Marvel titles from my pull list at the comic store.

So have I. I haven't collected any X-Men titles in at least three years. It's such a readership-increasing ploy that I can't believe it actually made it onto the evening news.

In "focus" groups Ford was the least liked and most boring character so the producers scrambled to change things up. They injected ford with the Wraith Syrum and brought on Rolan, who kicks much ass.

I like Ronon, but I also like Ford. I thought he contributed a bit of bushy-tailed enthusiasm to the team that was refreshing. But if they were going to kill him just kill him, you know? (I'm only three episodes through so don't spoil me). The whole "cutting out lymph sacs from Wraith/acting weird" bit is so far out there it's ridiculous.

Overall, S2 of Atlantis was really disappointing after the brilliance of S1. There are some gems in there ("Grace Under Pressure" is one of my favorites), but overall there was a definite lapse in quality. S9 of SG1 was on at the same time and that sucked too, so it must have been a general feeling of malaise on the part of the Stargate writing staff. Gladly, S3/S10 have both shown much improvement.
