Points of interest

Point the First (1st): FINALLY got a Wii in my hot little hands. I had to wake up at 5AM, head over to the Nintendo Store, and wait for two and a half hours, but I have one. Picked up Zelda and the Rayman game with the console and an additional controller. I'm going to hold off touching it until this evening, so the bro and I can indulge when the younger ones are sleeping. Me = stoked.

Point the Second (2nd): TWoP is selling shirts from the past. If you've never checked out Glarkware and/or the Now or Never merchandise, this is the perfect time. I'm peeved the "Petrelli for Congress" shirts are sold out, but "Clex Appeal"? is so mine.

Point the Third (3rd): The plan is to check out "300" at Imax with the middle bro this afternoon. Oldest bro and youngest bro decided to be punks and sneak off to see it on their own this week, while I was at work and middle bro was off on his senior trip. Youngest bro's been screaming out "Spartaaaaaaa!" at random intervals ever since. I suppose that's young male for "two thumbs up".

Point the Fourth (4th): I had a patient on Sunday who desat'ed to around 73%. It was *the* most terrifying event I've had to work through to date. I'm pretty sure the Wii purchase, the Glarkwear shopping, and the movie plan all sprang from a need to make myself feel better and/or avoid thinking about how frightening my job can be. So much second-guessing of myself, and I spend so much time questioning my skills that I doubt my miniscule amount of self-esteem is up to the challenge. But...*deep breath*.

1. Woo for the Wii!

4. What is desat-ing?

[identity profile] fredericks.livejournal.com 2007-03-15 02:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Re 1 - I know! I was thinking about going the night before, and I just sucked it up and said "why the hell not?" It's quite fun to play. :)

Re 4 - a decrease in the amount of oxygen found in the blood. Normal's usually 95-100%. So I was freaked.

Have fun with the Wii! Expect your shoulder to be a little achy tomorrow; one usually doesn't use one's arms that much.

And enjoy 300! ^ v ^

[identity profile] fredericks.livejournal.com 2007-03-15 02:33 pm (UTC)(link)
*grin* The bros enjoyed the hell out of baseball, while I liked tennis but had a hard time coordinating my movements. I got really tired playing the Rayman Raving Rabbits game. It's crazy fun.

300 was pretty. The fighting was awesome. I sort of wish they'd just stuck with fighting. Everything with the wife got on my nerves.

[identity profile] alicetheowl.livejournal.com 2007-03-15 04:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that whole thing just kinda bogged it down. But without it, there would've been no plot at all, so I'm torn on the matter.

And it's amazing how tired one can get playing Nintendo Wii. I played some tennis and bowling last night, and I was sweating and hot.

But it's SO much fun. ^ v ^

Congrats on nabbing a Wii.

Thanks. :)

1. Wario Ware! Sonic! Excite Truck! If you're buying a second wiimote, get Wii Play and tell me how it is! 2997 2680 7336 9402!

2. I just like saying 'Twop!'

3. RED SAUCE ON PASTA

4. What's a desat? Desaturated?

[identity profile] brooklynknight.livejournal.com 2007-03-14 04:42 am (UTC)(link)
Wii Play is hella fun. Especially the tank and fishing games. Billiards was cool too!

[identity profile] fredericks.livejournal.com 2007-03-15 02:37 pm (UTC)(link)
1. What's Wii Play? I had to buy a second remote because of all my brothers. I was eyeballing Sonic but I heard it was a bit on the tedious side. I think I might rent it from Blockbuster first and see what it's about. The Rayman game is quite fun. I'm impatient to run through it and unlock the mini-games so my brothers and I can play it together.

2. TWoP! Do you watch much television?

3. *grin* Does that mean you enjoyed it? "RED SAUCE ON PASTA"? Interpretation, please.

4. Desaturation. Loss of oxygen in the blood.

[identity profile] klaw.livejournal.com 2007-03-15 02:45 pm (UTC)(link)
1. Basically, if you buy a second wiimote, you can get one for $40, but if you drop an extra $10, you get a little freebie game, called Wii Play. In Japan, they got Wii Play and had to buy Wii Sports. By all reports, we got the better end of that deal, as Wii Play is allegedly not all that good.

2. Not a ton, but enough to have been exposed to TWOP in the past. TWOP!

3. Yeah, it was good. That said, I wanted it to be the best film EVER, and it wasn't that... I'm a huge fan of the graphic novel, and it didn't entirely live up to my expectations. Especially everything they added in. Stupid Spartan political drama. Grr.

3a. http://redsauceonpasta.ytmnd.com/

4. That sounds... painful.

[identity profile] fredericks.livejournal.com 2007-03-15 03:01 pm (UTC)(link)
re 1. Ah. They didn't offer me Wii Play. I didn't even know it existed until you mentioned it. I'll probably end up putting down for two additional controllers, though, so if I get it I'll let you know.

re 3. All the wife stuff messed up my good movie. I found all the romance stuff between her and Leonidas to be valuable bathroom break time. I know it was added to increase the number of females viewers, but as a female viewer I found it ridiculous and more than a little annoying. More blood and battles, please.

Once I find out what the heck a friend code is and where I can locate mine I'll yet you know. First time I heard about it was reading through my comments.

[identity profile] klaw.livejournal.com 2007-03-15 03:06 pm (UTC)(link)
1. Aww. Well, when you get p3 and p4...

3. I completely agree. I dunno if you read the graphic novel, but all of the stuff with the wife before he left for the battle was in there, but everything after they left wasn't. So, no awkward political struggles, no completely horrible and offensive rape scenes... I want them to come out with a Director's Cut that has those scenes taken out. It'll be AWESOME.

When you click on the little 'mail' button on the home page, and then click 'send a message', you'll be presented with three options. The one on the far right is your address book. On the cover is your friend code.

You then send that out to your peeps, and enter the friend codes they give you into your address book. Once you and your friend have added each other, then you can send mail, Miis, etc etc.

2997 2680 7336 9402!

Is that your friend code?

[identity profile] klaw.livejournal.com 2007-03-15 02:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Why yes, yes it is.

[identity profile] jenjiyana.livejournal.com 2007-03-13 07:30 pm (UTC)(link)
argh another person who got a Wii!

i think we all need some form of escapism. You're job is hard and can be scary - it's totally understandable.

[identity profile] fredericks.livejournal.com 2007-03-15 02:38 pm (UTC)(link)
*grin* Dude, if you want it I'm so willing to head out to Nintendo World and pick one up for you then mail it over. Let me know.

Yes! Escapism! I just sometimes wished my form was cheaper. I don't buy clothes or shoes, I buy CDs, DVDs, or games.

I got a Petrelli for Congress tee when they first came out - yay me! ;) It's the first (and only) TWoP shirt I've ever bought.

[identity profile] fredericks.livejournal.com 2007-03-15 02:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Notice the jealousy. :) When I saw that shirt I was sorta into the show, but not enough to justify buying the tee. Not that the Petrelli lust has struck its full-blow I'm quite upset that I slept on it.

I've bought a "Who's Your Spy Daddy" shirt, and have a Frakkin' Toaster shirt and the "Clex Appeal" shirts on order. I also ordered a "Swedish Mafia: Efficient but Deadly" shirt just because it's so damned cute.

[identity profile] brooklynknight.livejournal.com 2007-03-14 04:42 am (UTC)(link)
Friend Code!! Post your friend code!!!

[identity profile] fredericks.livejournal.com 2007-03-15 02:42 pm (UTC)(link)
What's a friend code? So you can connect over the internet? I only pulled out the Wii yesterday evening and didn't get a chance to read through the instruction/operation manual yet.

[identity profile] brooklynknight.livejournal.com 2007-03-15 06:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Every Nintendo Wii has a friend code so that you can add friends and yes, communicate over the internet.

Additionally, it allows you to share Mii's and grow your Wii Parade.

[identity profile] captainschlumpy.livejournal.com 2007-03-14 01:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Glad you got your hands on a wii (we were all sold out everywhere!)
300 is awesome! You'll LOL at Xerses (sp?) though, he cracked me up. the thing that was really interesting was the voices of the actors. not your usual hollywood bunch. Have fun!

[identity profile] fredericks.livejournal.com 2007-03-15 02:43 pm (UTC)(link)
...was it wrong that in *my* movie Leonidas ended up kneeling for Xerxes? Fo' serious, my friend. He was indeed hilarious. Interesting movie. And thanks for the Wii love. :)

[identity profile] twoworldsin1.livejournal.com 2007-03-16 07:50 pm (UTC)(link)
heh, I thought 300 was AWESOME. What did you think of it?

[identity profile] fredericks.livejournal.com 2007-03-19 08:29 am (UTC)(link)
I liked it - I'm a fan of cool fight scenes accompanied by rousing music - but I expected more, for some reason. Everything with the wife struck me as pandering. I didn't care about her feelings about Leonidas and/or vice versa, and her rape I found to be mildly offensive and ridiculous. Was I supposed to think "wow, she'd give up her body...for Spartaaaaaaaaaa! ? All I wanted was more fighting.

[identity profile] twoworldsin1.livejournal.com 2007-03-19 02:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, the whole subplot with the queen wasn't in the graphic novel. I think the director just put that in there as kind of filler and, if there's a weak spot of the movie, that's it.
