Boredom leads to polls.

I'm thinking about taking classes in a language. I studied Italian for a number of years but am currently beyond rusty. I've been interested in learning German for a while. At the moment I'm undecided. So, you know, pretend you're me and pick. Or just randomly click on a radio button and hit "send". It's all good.

Learn Spanish! It's my first language and it's coooooool!

*grin* That's as persuasive an argument as I've ever heard.

Well, thinking that Spanish is fast becoming an unofficial second language in the US, with so many latinos that live there and are just recently learning that having two languages is better than 1, people who are bi-lingual are really sought after in work places.

Working in an hospital you can have a great advantage if you know Spanish.

And it's COOL! XD

ASL might also be practical in your line of work :)

*grin* True, hence the "fill a void" bit. I've run into one deaf patient fluent in ASL and knowing it would help tons, I'm sure.

"genetic engineering was created to fix god's horrible, horrible mistakes. like german people!"

please note that the writer is german, and knows whereof she speaks.

Ha. I love cracking on Germans for no real reason. Much love, but it's funny to me. I'm a simple human being.

yes, the german member of my family (that would by my grandfather) is quite funny. or, at least, if i didn't laugh, i'd cry.

I do okay with the Spanish, but I wish I knew it better. It really does help to know it, though. There are so many positions that require or prefer Spanish-speakers. I wish I could say I was fluent in it.

I've studied it and grown up around it, so I can usually pick up on what's going on, but there's the precise medical lingo I want to master as well. Re-learning it would be quite helpful, as you've said.

I'd want to do all of them.

Right there with you.

Voted German just because German is awesome :-D

Spanish is useful, especially in your line of work and your part of the country. But I voted ASL, because Spanish interpreters are a dime a dozen, but putting ASL on your resume will probably make you very desirable.
