::shrug::

I spent the weekend not sleeping, then freaking [livejournal.com profile] atraxia out with my inability to stay still and watch Hot Fuzz (in my defense, dirty dishes in a clean sink and otherwise neat apartment sorta weird me out), then sleeping through Sunday (3PM - 1AM). I have no idea what's up, but it's a little disconcerting.

There's *another* conference in Vegas at the end of March. I'm pondering whether I should go or not. If I do end up going, I would not move from the hotel. It'd be a nice educational vacation from the job.

I dreamt I was studying hardcore for the GREs. I woke up feeling very knowledgeable. Then the fog lifted and I had no idea what I'd studied.

I'm going to write to my profs re: recommendations in a couple of minutes, once I refresh my cup of chamomile (what? we don't have any other decaffeinated tea in the house beside white peach and, honestly? that stuff tastes like sweaty armpits). I hope I don't run into issues with them, although I really only need one additional letter as long as my manager doesn't screw me over.

Michael Chabon's The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay is quite engrossing. Of course, I haven't even gotten my hand on the actual [livejournal.com profile] nycbookclub book yet. But, then again, what's new?

Yeah, no idea what's going on with me lately.

Sorry I should probably know this, but where are you applying? Grad school?

I need to do the whole recommendation thing at some point, but I like don't really know how? I need them for like 5 different schools, and all at very different times. Don't know what to do.

Yes. grad school. I don't think I've mentioned it much. I want to go for a Masters in Public Health. SUNY Downstate has one of the few accredited Masters programs in the city. And it's relatively inexpensive, so, plus.

I find recs intimidating, particularly if you haven't been in school for a while. My letter was full of "oh, I don't know if you remember me...I sat here and I wore this" and blah blah. Quite awkward.

Good luck with the profs!
Glad you're enjoying Kavalier and Clay!

Thanks.
And I reached the point where the book reading experience transcends time and space. It was thrilling. Made the ride home this morning fly by. It's very interesting. Thank you for mentioning it way back when. :)

Completely random but I've always wanted to go to Vegas. I don't gamble but I love neon! So shiny! I've been in a funk debating grad school(again!) or job applications and had a dream that I was working at a carnival. weird.

You really don't have to gamble in Vegas, although the draw is constantly there. It's a sleazier NYC, what with all the flashing lights and weirdos and shows available. I'd love to go out there just because. Get a nice hotel room overlooking the Strip and just relax.

Why not apply to grad schools and see what happens?

you crack me up.

Then my mission is complete.
