Way too much smiling going on this weekend

So Thursday someone rang the doorbell around noon. Thinking it's the J-dubs (what my brother calls Jehovah Witnesses), I ran and hid. Turned out it was the postman attempting to deliver a package. The little "sorry I missed you" slip stated the sender's name was "Canada" (yeah, okay *snort*). I think to myself, "who do I know in Canada?" Of course the first name that springs to mind is Paul Gross...then I put the crack pipe down, because I asked who I knew in Canada, not who I'd like to "know" in the biblical sense (heh), and I go " [livejournal.com profile] darker_one!" At first I thought this was the wayward Christmas package she'd sent my way, but it turned out to be tons better (then again, I don't know what she'd tried to mail down to me earlier; perhaps is *was* Paul Gross - has he been MIA lately?), although I didn't end up getting it until right before leaving for work on Friday. I got the most amazing box of exotic Canadian candies*, a blatant bit of propaganda concealed as a neat fountain-like pen (hee!), and a beautiful bead necklace. It was such a neat gift, with an awesome postcard besides. I don't know whether I should eat the candy or save then, although the Smarties are tempting the hell out of me right now. Everyone's weekend should be kicked off with a care package like that one (look what you've done! you've started a precedent!).

Right. Worked Friday into Saturday, then I came home, napped, and headed out to Main Street to (finally!) meet up with [livejournal.com profile] captainschlumpy. My initial plan was for us to pow-wow in Starbucks, but as the place was crowded top to bottom I ended up dragging her over to a nice dim sum spot I'd been to in the past - only thing was dim sum "hour" was over. We had dinner, chatting all the while, then "afterpartied" in the (thankfully) more empty Starbucks a little while later. So much fun. It's always neat to meet folk you've been connected to for a while and find out they're just as interesting as you'd imagined.

Now I'm carting my heathen behind off to church. Happy Bunny Day, folks. :)

P.S. - Life, you better keep this up for a little while. I haven't frowned in, like, two days. It's a frickin' new record.

**grin* I'm sorry, but "exotic" and "Canadian" in the vicinity of one another always makes me laugh (unless it's referencing...you know, I think I'll just stop mentioning the man's name).

I'm so glad that this package actually arrived! And fear not, the first one did not contain Paul Gross.

Enjoy!

Thanks. I'm fascinated by the French on the wrappers. I'm a simple woman. :)

Oui, oui! All Canadian products are bilingual (even if most of our citizens are not). I can understand a lot of French, but I can't speak very much. It's a long standing Canadian joke that we all learn french from the back of cereal boxes.

hooray for good weekends! you needed this.

oh, and smarties are the yummiest thing ever. if you don't eat them, i'll take them off your hands.

I'm saving those. Are they comparable to M&M's?

Yes, very similar, but in my opinion, the chocolate in the Smarties is better.

Yay! It was super fun to meet up with you! We'll have to do it again soon! I made it home with no detours to Manhattan so all is well. :P

Happy Easter!

Likewise. Thanks for taking the time out. On the way home I figured you'd be set. Or that you'd at least have a survivalist kit somewhere in the front seat next to the comprehensive map and the killer flashlight. :)

This made me smile. I'm glad to hear you're enjoying life.
