fredericks: (Oh Snap!!)

Seven more and counting. With the nutsos! Argh!

The highlight of last night's shift? Having to physically restrain a completely cuckoo old man (myself and SIX other staff members, mind) to give him Haldol to try to get his ass to sleep after he kicked, punched, and threw his phone at us, having him pretend to sleep until we all left him alone, then catching him as he streaked on by the nurses station in nude in an attempt to head to the elevators, only to have him threaten us with the wall phone, calling security to get him back in bed, and then placing him on a soft vest restraint for the rest of the night. Oh, did I mention he pulled out his wound vac? And did I forget the part where he called all of us racial epiteths? Apparently black people are "taking over the world", y'all. Only he didn't use "black people". Then he cursed out the surgery resident and called him "a damn Jew". At which point the surgery resident came back out to us and said "[the patient's] Jewish too!" HI-effin'-larious. Seriously. We had way too much fun last night with all the craziness, even though I barely got my work done (and didn't remember I hadn't done my 24 hour chart checks until I'd gotten home. Oops). I hope the same resident's on tonight. He's entirely too cute.

Now why the hell am I up?

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms and mom-figures. Keep on keepin' it real, ladies.

Obviously didn't give him enough Haldol. I hope your new job is better.

Is it wrong that this entry made me giggle like a schoolgirl? I do feel for you though, I find it hard enough dealing with crazy old people over the phone.

This entry was MADE for the giggles. We were laughing about it during the entire night. Things were wacky, but no one's life was on the line, you know? so we were taking it all in stride. :)
