True story

So, I'm in an eatery around the NYU campus taking time for lunch when this woman in a nun's habit starts coming around supposedly collecting for an orphanage. I, of course, being a cynical bastard, am 99.9 percent sure she's a con artist with an awesome costume - she was wearing an ID fer crissakes! - and so I ignore her as she slowly makes her way to the far side of my tablet. Undeterred, she then sloooowly makes her way over to my side of the table, where I don't even bother with eye contact lest I start with the third degree. I mumble ''no, thanks'' to her begging ...and as she walks away I hear her mutter ''bitch''. To which I reply to her hastily retreating back, ''that's quite Godly of you, by the way.'' I can't wait 'til Halloween.

on my last halloween in portland, i was walking to a job interview early in the morning when i passed an elderly black man wearing a catholic priest's outfit having a smoke out on the sidewalk. as i walked by, he greeted me with "good mornin', cupcake!"

i think that was my first time being called "cupcake," too, which made it that much more awesome. ...i have mentioned before that i spent 13 years of my life in catholic schools, right?

Once or twice. :) That's an awesome anecdote.

There are always lots of clergy out on Halloween. That woman should have waited a couple more days.

A "nun" called you a bitch! no way! Hey, you should collect for "charity" at the parade!

That is EXACTLY what I was thinking. I wish I had a Torchwood ID, though. I'd have worn it and said I was collecting for them.

Good job id'ing the con artist! Your reaction cracked me up.

Yeah. If she *was* actually who she stated she was, she totally gave the game away at the end.
