Holidays, Communities, and Random Tasty Bits

Worked today, and was delightfully surprised that things were relatively quiet. The weather cooperated and the patients were, for the most part, friendly. Two more days out in the field to go and then three days until VACATION. Cannot wait.

I keep forgetting today is Friday, as it's considered part of my weekend shift.

TV programming sucks on holidays and Saturdays.

I finally updated the health/weight comm I'd been toying with making. Please join and start discussing things with me!: [livejournal.com profile] weight_matters. It is a work in progress, so if you have any suggestions lay 'em on me.

Tasty chips FTW: Food Should Taste Good's Jalapeno Chips. HOMG, give me a dinner with one of Trader Joe's Bean and Rice Burritos, some guac., mango salsa, and a serving of jalapeno chips? Lovely healthy heaven.

I'm going to have to look into workout classes in the city after work. One of my mini-goals is to incorporate more weight training into my cardio-heavy workouts, and I'm never able to attend the step classes at my current gym. If anyone has had any experience with Crunch's classes and wants to give me feedback please feel free.

The idea of Transformer fic makes me giggle. That there's explicit Transformer fic (thank you, Small Fandom Month at Crack Van)? I laugh, I cry, I am bemused, bewildered, and other wonderful "b" words by fandom. Ah, fandom! Heh.

So, in conclusion: [livejournal.com profile] weight_matters. Tell your LJ friends. :)

eta - Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] nelliewu for the LJ Snowflake (aww! my first virtual gift!) and [livejournal.com profile] army_kitten for the wonderful 2010 postcard that, appropriately enough, got on the first day of the New Year (so much awesome! *grin*)

Thanks to Fandom_Wank, I can name the three major kinds of Transformers smut. But then, this is the same F_W where the phrase "Watson has puppies" comes with a disclaimer that he owns them, but does not give birth to them. Oh, fandom!

Speaking of Sherlock Holmes, it's awesome. I'm glad you've been talking about it for months, as I probably wouldn't have known about it otherwise.

Bwah! Fandom_Wank is another winner. I used to spend a good amount of procrastination time at that site. And there are three major kinds of Transformer fic? I just...I think about Transformers and then I think about Jiffy Lube and, yeah. Not so much.

I swear, when I think about how I got involved in fandom in the first place. I remember hearing about fanfic and saying to myself "oh, that's just *silly*, what's wrong with those people." Six months later? I'm engrossed in a show to an unhealthy degree and trolling bulletin boards. Six months after that? I'm reading fanfic. Six months after that? I'm reccing fanfic and looking for companions. And it's always "man, that's silly" leading to "that's awesome! lol smiley face!" I know I'll probably be all up on Transformers fic in a couple of years. Because the benevolent entity overseeing all has a *great* sense of cosmic karma humor.

Would you believe I haven't seen Holmes yet? Stupid work schedule. I'm glad you liked it. Now I want to see it even more. *grin*

yaaay! i'm glad you got the card right on time! XD

have fun with weight training. i don't do it right now, but i always found it much more fun than cardio. plus i always felt kind of badass afterward, even if my muscles were puny...

and thank you for reminding me of one of my new year's resolutions, which is to get my ass to yoga class!

[identity profile] fredericks.livejournal.com 2010-01-04 04:19 am (UTC)(link)
Our lazy mailperson's slacking worked out just right for me. :) Thank you. It made my day to come home from a long day at work to some fireworks.

Heh! Your guns. I have to find some weight training I can stomach. I like cardio because on the machines I can start and just zone out, you know? The interval breakdown of weight training requires more time and concentration. Meh. I'll see what happens.

And yoga! If my knees weren't questionable I'd look into some classes myself.

I am getting those chips today based on your recommendation. I do love me some jalapeno chips!

They really do burn so good.
I think it wasn't love at first taste. I remember buying them on a whim, tasting one, and then putting the bag down for a while. Then I came back to them while trying out some salsa and couldn't stop eating. I'm going to try Food Should Taste Good's other flavors as well. The olive and chocolate ones seem interesting, if nothing else.

TV programming sucks on holidays and Saturdays.

I found lots of dumb movies to watch, but they may not be to everyone's taste as such.

SyFy has a ton of bad movies. But I cannot stomach those things unless in the company of people who are good at mocking such things. Gotta start pulling out my DVDs.
