I'm off today, because I had to work this weekend. The weekend weather was muggy and hot, and even though I had a "reasonable" caseload I still had to do a lot of trudging around and didn't leave the homes of my last patients until 4:30 - 5pm both days. And I only just finished my notes last night at 10pm. *sigh* I'd initially told the bosses I'd come in for some OT to help with a presentation today, but once I realized how much work I had left to complete I was all "fuck it, and fuck youse guys."

So, off day! And there's no A/C in my home, so I'm basically sweating through everything, too lazy to get out and too tired to do much of anything productive. I've taken two showers so far, the second one solely to wash my hair because it started feeling rank. Ugh. I have swim today, which is always fun, but I'm going to have to stand outside (*groan*) and wait on the subway platforms (*double groan*) and then walk around (damn it) before I can get into a pool.

Heat being what it is, I'm still managing to flip through channels on the TV. Demon Knight is on. God, such a cheesy movie, but I still love it. Billy Zane! William Sadler (whatever the hell happened to that guy? can't remember seeing in anything outside of The Green Mile after this) and a Jada Pinkett that who wasn't terribly annoying! Black female heroines FTW! I always have loved a demon/evil fight story; any recommendations for movies/books/fic along those lines?

Speaking of bringing the cheese, I'm cautiously optimistic about the impending release of the Fright Night remake. I mean, it has David Tennant, Colin Farrell, and Chekov. And, come on!, it's Fright Night. Surely it can't be *that bad*?

On the book front, the Kindle app on my Droid is just adding to my to-read backlog. I've slowly started making my way through Absolute Monarchs: A History of the Papacy by John Julius Norwich and My Custom Van, a collection of droll essays by Michael Ian Black. Just today my copy of Grant Morrison's Supergods: What Masked Vigilantes, Miraculous Mutants, And A Sun God From Smallville Can Teach Us About Being Human (seriously, the title reeks of an undergrad capstone paper), and the next book in the Dresden series, Ghost Stories comes out next Tuesday.

I kind of want to see Fright Night too...
but the original was SO BAD!! I can only imagine how horrible the remake would be....

The badness of the original is what made it fun for me. I have great memories of watching it over and over again when I was younger. It's possible that they could make an interesting film.

I too am cautiously optimistic about Fright Night. The screenwriter did write for Buffy... she did write some pretty crappy episodes of Buffy, but she wrote some good ones too. And yeah, David Tennant, Colin Farrell, and new Chekov!

*grin* Yay! Demon Knight solidarity. That thing came out when I was 15. I think it was one of the first movies I recall watching where I got to the end credits and was like "wow, this is sort of fucked up, it's not a happy ending at all." And I was sort of hoping for a continuation of the tale, but oh well.
