Day 3 - I Love Chelsea

I pass by this bakery after leaving Whole Foods, and the name along with its mascot always get a chuckle out of me. Subtle it is not. Amusing? Yes indeedy.

Today I continued with the "no earphones on the train" bit, made my bed, and I also decided to stick with Pilates. That required me speaking up to the instructor to let her know that all the frou-frou directions ("visualize a string leading from your head to your sit bones" [wtf are "sit bones"? anyone ever run across those in anatomy and physiology?] weren't working for me. And rather than that getting me crucified by more advanced classmates it garnered more specific step-by-step instruction of particular moves AND the instructor spent more time going to everyone individually to make sure they were performing the motions correctly. Being the squeaky wheel is not necessarily a bad thing.

I finished Thin is the New Happy and am re-starting The Year of Living Biblically. I'm practically going through books at a clip pace; two in a week! I haven't done that since high school.

Nothing else to add to this entry as I'm tired as a mofo. Hope I can think of something else to do tomorrow.

The instructor at my yoga/pilates class talks about "sit bones" too and I'm just like "what are those??"

I thought it was a Pilates philosophy thing. The use of imagery never really works for me; I'm too much of a concrete thinker.

"Sit bones". Sorta funny when you repeat it a couple of times.

I thought it was "seat bones," but always assumed it was the coccyx.

Love the bakery's name and story, BTW. The owner really looks like the pic!

I Googled the bakery to show my mom and we clicked on the link to the NY Daily News article. Mom, apropos of nothing, goes "is [the owner] gay?" and I go "one, the shop is called 'Big Booty Bakery'. Two, it's in Chelsea. Three, he's posing in the picture [with the article] with his mother. So, maybe?" We're planning a trip to the store the next time we're in the area.

And, yes, he totally does look like the pic. :)

I've been looking at that book (and some of the author's previous work), but I've yet to read it. Let me know what you think?

Cool beans, will do. Don't know why I didn't manage to finish it before, but it's interesting reading so far.
