Today was a little surreal. One, it was gorgeous outside this afternoon (if you're in the NYC Metro area and did not get a good walk in today, shame on you!).

Two, some dude in my subway car passed out during my morning commute and the MTA folks completely bumbled the EMT response and commuter assistance. The gent didn't so much "pass out" and fall to the floor and remain non-responsive for 10-15 seconds before slowly regaining responsiveness over the next 10 minutes. Seems like he had either a seizure or some cardiac incident that resolved itself; the sad/infuriating part was that it took more than 15 minutes after the train stopped in a station for medical assistance to arrive. By that time the gentleman was alert and mumbling that he was fine, the passengers were annoyed and/or disgusted, and the conductors were frustrated by the guy's apparent well-being and being pestered by the other commuters. The train stopped at 57th Street so I ended up just walking to Rockefeller Center and catching another train downtown. As far as I know, no EMTs ever showed up. Hope the guy was okay.

Three (probably related to one) - I was very chipper today. During lunch I walked up to the Japanese sweets store at Rockefeller Center (always a bonus in my books), I ate well today and got in a good workout, and I got to savor a red bean pastry with a cup of tea as reward while reading today's paper in a quiet house. This day wins.

Now I'm off to down some Tylenol Sinus with the hopes that the sore throat that's making its presence felt now doesn't decide to screw up tomorrow.
