Because [livejournal.com profile] xioley asked so kindly and then knitted me the most awesomest hat known to man I post this:

WVWYD - Version Tenacious D
Whose Voodoo Would You Do? - A maybe weekly feature where fredericks tries her damnedest to disprove the notion that she's not batshit crazy. Music groups past present AND future (admire the skills) will be presented and all you have to do is pick which member you'd, you know, do. Forget sexual orientation of the do-er (yourself) and the do-ees (the options) and just choose. Justifying one's choice is always welcome. Calls for an intervention? not so much.

In honor of its upcoming movie this week's group is Tenacious D. Formed on a whim by one comedian and one house musician, the D is proof that looks aren't everything. Sometimes just bein' able to rawk people's socks off is enough. That and somehow get a TV show under your belt after one year together.

Saturday I a)hung the wrong medicine and b)gave a young woman my mother's number instead of my own twice. Needless to say I will never attempt to work twelve hours on four hours of sleep ever again.

Guitar Hero II continues to be awesome. This time around you can play Freebird. In the first game it was used as a bit of comedic relief ("they don't really want you to play Freebird, they're just playing with you"). This time around Freebird's the last song in the game: the crowd actually requests it and you're asked three times whether or not you actually want to play it. Here's the thing - it's not like the song's so hard as repetitive and LONG AS ALL HELL. My brother and I play it and we can clock around seven minutes of play before we're both making crazy mistakes because our concentration's shot to hell. It's a song that requires frequent hydration (Gatorade?).

Jo and I saw "The Queen" on Sunday. I enjoyed it, but found it hilarious how many people in the theatre were actually sniffling their way through all the Diana references. Jebus. Also - that movie is a breeding ground for QEII/Tony Blair fic, believe you me.

Sleeeeeeeeeeeep.

This week's group is Duran Duran, that bastion of 80's cheese and synth pop. Knock them if you must, but they put the location video on the map (okay, mock them *because* of that if you wish). They've brought the pretty in various formations for well over two decades, and I'm not ashamed to admit I *liked* "Ordinary World" and "Come Undone". So there.

The Pic-ture...hum it like you're hummin' 'The Reflex' and you'll giggle, I swear. )

This week's group, courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] lab_brat and Ain't It Cool News. A quote from the site:

WB animation is remaking the Thundercats as an animated TV series. The animation style is whimsical, Americanized-anime, along the lines of Teen Titans. The setting is modern-day Earth, in a major city (possibly LA) The Thundercats are all teenagers.
Their leader is Snarf (!) who is now a mystic with a "third" eye.
Each of the Thundercats has a weapon with an "Eye of Thunderra" and transformative powers(not just Lion-O)
When they aren't fighting evil, the Thundercats play together as a rock band. That's not a typo, or a joke. They are rockin' cats in their present form.
Mum-Ra now has wings.

No image, because...have you ever tried Google-ing or Yahoo-ing "Thundercats"? The images that come up will put you off food for a good long while. Cosplayers? just say no. PLEASE.

Wiki's page on Thundercats, for those who don't currently live in the 80s and require a reference.

This week's group is Spinal Tap, that pinnacle of 80's sound that brought us such memorable hits as "Tonight I'm Gonna Rock You Tonight", "Sex Farm", and the chart-topping album "Smell The Glove" (smells sort of like censored photos, don't it?). If nothing else Tap taught a generation of people that talent (and drummers) may come and go, but mockumentaries live forever. All hail the Tap!

The Tap is HERE, luv )

This week the group is Fleetwood Mac. Formed in 1967 and limping right along through the present, Fleetwood Mac is prime example of why shitting where you eat isn't necessarily a bad thing: sometimes that drama is immortalized in chart-topping rock goodness. You can choose more than one, as I realize I shouldn't impart my monogamist ideals onto an endeavor that's quite obviously crack-fueled anyway.

Fleetwood Mac circa 1995? )
