No Gay Marriage.com

...

So it's been a horrible week. A horrible week. Joblessness (my usual whining - I'm as tired of it as you are), reading stories about California wildfires, child abusers, terrorism, the episcopalian church thing, the RC policies on sex, blah blah blah. And then some kind soul at Brown's Daily Jolt posts this link for a laugh. Not a Nelson laugh, a regular ole "stupidity of humankind" laugh. Thing is, why am I not laughing? My thoughts (as coherent as I can make them at the moment) are as follows: there's marriage in the church, and then there's marriage as federal/state acknowledgment of the financial coupling of two individuals. If the church doesn't want to allow same-sex marriages, fine. That's their prerogative. But to tell the *state* that civil unions of same-sex couples shouldn't be performed because it is an abomination in the eyes of religious institutions just seems wrong to me. Wasn't there that whole "separation of church and state" thing way back when our nation was getting shakily to its feet?

Argh. Data overload...why am I feeling so out of it?

:/

Man, churches piss me off sometimes.

And man, I despise that "God Hates Fags" guy. (http://www.msnbc.com/news/986318.asp - too lazy to HTML code into sentence- ed.) What the fuck is wrong with him? Newsflash, Reverend- God hates YOU, asshole.

One foot in front the other

Ditto. I think the key is to keep trudging along doing your best, and hope that things turn around.

Or do something positive or some junk. I dunno.

Lord, that man. He's been topic of discussion at the QAF community for days now. Honestly, does he think Sheppard's town will allow him to put up that monument of ignorance and hatred? I still, for the life of me, don't understand how Christians can be so quick to say God hates *anyone*. I'd enter into my whole "God is love" thing, but I doubt you have enough patience for that. "Judge not, lest ye be judged" works well enough. If only these people would take some time from condemning the life of others and follow the whole "love thy neighbor as thyself" bit, I'm sure the world would be a much better place.

Well, I'm a Christian and I'm right with you on this. All I can say is that not all Christians go for the "God oh-so-conveniently hates this this thing of which I disapprove, he told me so in this message in my cornflakes this morning" bullshit- only the lunatic fringe. The Al-Quaeda of Christianity, if you will.
