fredericksHmm. I'm a little peeved Jacob over at TWoP hasn't started up a topic yet.
I loved it, LOVED IT for the first 45 minutes. For the first 30 minutes I alternated between mouthing "oh my God" and trying to stem the flow of tears from my eyes. From 30-45 minutes I spent a good bit of time shaking my head and saying "What the frak, Baltar??", in a good way though. Then everything went downhill.
One, why did they do the old switcheroo at the beginning of the funeral scene, making it seem like Apollo had actually flatlined during the night? That one snippet with Lee staring out without breathing really was pointless. The actual ceremony...meh. You can't really frak up something like that. Then the flimsy way they explained away Gina's escape "all the chaos after the victory"...what the hell?? You mean no one on the Pegasus would have realized the cylon they'd spent time raping and beating the shit out of is walking the halls and out of her cell? The least Moore and Co. could have done was devote a minute or two of screen time to us seeing Baltar smuggle Gina away.
Then the bunk scene with Lee and Kara...what the frak was Dualla doing there?? Come the hell on now. I could have done with some explanation: she had to deliver a message to Lee, had to say something to Kara, anything but having her suddenly be there listening onto their conversation. And then the worst sin - having Apollo go all Buffy Season 6 on us: "I'm not sure I wanted to come back". Gah. Double gah! Hideous, just hideous. I really think I might have liked it more if I wasn't pissed about all the crap that had come before. And if Dualla didn't suddenly show up to listen in on the angst.
The only bit that didn't piss me off was the stuff with Helo/Tyrol/CapricaSharon. Nicely played all around.
Goddamn them. And they'd been doing so well.
