1. What's your favorite line from a movie, and why?
I'm not very good with these, as my memory's slightly to the left of a goldfish's and I'm more of a visual person than an aural person when it comes to retention. And I never have a single favorite. I'm fond of most of Janeane Garofalo's character's lines in "The Truth About Cats and Dogs", because I am Abby. Really, I am.

2. Who's your favorite villain from a movie, and why?
The fax machine from "Office Space" ("'PC Load Letter'? What the f**k does that mean??") tied with the Nihilists from "The Big Lebowski" ("We hate nothing!"). The fax machine gets love mainly for the sequence involving Murder Was the Case Down for Whatever(?), and the Nihilists...come on! they used weasels! Attack weasels! Instant win.*
*Please don't point out that I managed to muster up lines from movies for this questions while pleading brain atrophy and giving nothing specific for the first question. Fine. A line I loved from "The Truth About Cats and Dogs": "You can love your pet, just don't love your pet." There. My logic astounds me.

3. Name one movie everyone else loves that you hate.
There exists no movie that everyone loves...lalalaWhat did people find enjoyable in "Something About Mary"? Seriously, like, where was the funny in that movie?

4. Name one movie everyone else hates that you love.
Again with the fallacious questions... Critics weren't too fond of "Underworld", and I enjoyed it for the leather-clad romp it aspired to be.

5. What's your favorite Pixar film, and why? "Finding Nemo". There are far too few father-son bonding movies out there, and Nemo was cute. Plus, the turtles! The seagulls ("rats with wings")! Ring of fire! Ringoffire! Great stuff. I love "The Incredibles", but I always fast-forward at least half an hour of it when I watch nowadays. I sit through "Finding Nemo" from start to finish.

Then I'll be sure to never insult you when you're holding a violin bow. :-)

You know, I had to Google that to figure out where it came from. I've not seen that movie yet. I guess I should hunt it down now.

*grin* Yes. For it can be used with deadly force.

I always get surprised when I meet a guy who's sat through the movie. Did you watch it with the missus? or solo?

I've seen it too, although not in a very long time...so much so that I've nearly forgotten all of it. I do remember that I preferred Abby to Noelle by FAR.

And yes, I did see it with the woman I was dating at the time, but only because we both wanted to see it. I would have gone by myself anyways if she hadn't have wanted to. :)

I first saw it while I was dating the woman before I met my wife. I seem to recall we were both interested in seeing the film -- my interest in seeing it was due to Ms. Garafalo, whom I still think is an underutilized, great comedic actress.

I've never really found Uma Thurman attractive so there's that in her favor, but the script did her character a disservice by making Noelle rather ...dense (is that even the right word for what she was? ha). It would have made for a more complicated (I think) film if Noelle had half the intelligence Abby had. Was the point to show that if you're blonde and moderately attractive you don't *have* to develop brains? Or was it just a plot contrivance (there were a lot of those, weren't there?)? I lean towards the latter, personally. But still loved it.

And kudos to you! You don't count, as you're uber-cool anyway. :)

She is, although she seems to be having a blast in radio nowadays. She's never quite fit the mold of Hollywood, and she never really tried very hard to after "Cats and Dogs" (although she was in a couple of films afterward...I know this because I've hunted down most everything she's been in; if you haven't seen "Sweethearts" I'd recommend it).

Finding Nemo = LOVE!

I'm gonna start doing these questions. You make them seem cool and fun! :)

LOVE the icon, btw! It's mesmerizing...I've been staring at it for about 10 minutes already. Aheh...

I think the word you were searching for there was "ditzy". :)

I think the brains vs beauty thing was both part of the point as well as a contrivance. But hey, a lot of good movies have contrivances in their plots....I won't even get into the plot of Die Hard, which is one of my all time favorites. :) It's part of what gives them their charm.

*blush* Uber-cool. :) Takes one to know one, though. :)

The icon...it's Ed. What more is there to love? *grin* I like how you pulled out a FMA icon for your reply. I got the one I used in my post here: http://community.livejournal.com/tmg_icons/14749.html#cutid1 . I took the waving Al as well because it's so damned cute.

Nemo indeed does equal teh love. :)

Suddenly, I feel like I'm in a remake of Single White Female or something. :p

"The fax machine gets love mainly for the sequence involving Murder Was the Case Down for Whatever(?)..."

You mean the scene where it gets killed dead? I think that's "Still" by the Geto Boys.

I hate that I know what "PC Load Letter" means now. It makes that joke so much less funny.

I agree with you about "Something About Mary." I never got that movie. Frankly I thought it was gross.

I am so with on #5. 3 for me would be "Anchorman". While I do know a few people who dislike Will Ferrell now, I used to the big weirdo on that one. It's just. not. funny. And for 4: "Mannequin"; it's so bad, it's great!

1. "I never thought I would be the kind of women to say this, but it's true. All men are bastards." Kate (Meg Ryan) in French Kiss. One of my all time favorite movies which is odd because I'm not much of a chic flick lover. Kevin Kline rules as a hygienically challenged Frenchman!
2. Err, tough one. I think it would have to be Prince Humperdink from the Princess Bride. So sure of himself and yet, such a coward at the end.
3. Selena, and anything with stupid, talentless Jennifer Lopez in it. The Sweetest Thing and everyone around here seems to love the movie Joe Dirt which I can not understand.
4. Bubble Boy. "OH, you're not a singing group, you're a cult!"
"You want $500?!?!? $500!"
5. Finding Nemo for the turtles and Toy Story for the one liners. "You are a sad strange little man and you have my pity."

I never worked in an office, but having had to deal with bureaucracy I found the movie hilarious. Still no idea what "PC Load Letter" means, so Michael Bolton and I are in the same boat. :)

"Something About Mary" was gross. I think the humor missed me by a good bit.

I was going to mention "Anchorman", but the fight between the various network anchormen gets at least a couple of chuckles from me. Not a peep while I'm watching "Mary". They're both movies I'd only rewatch if I was seriously bored.

And "Mannequin"! They used to play that all the time on one of our local stations. "Mannequin", "Big Trouble in Little China", and "Firestarter" were in constant rotation come the summer.

Kevin Kline rules in *anything*. I had such a major crush on him when I was growing up.

And, ah!, Humperdinck is such a great answer! I would have picked the Count myself...six fingers on one hand = evil.

I've never watched Bubble Boy. I might just for the Gyllenhaal factor, though.

I snicker like a loon every time I watch it. The cult, the circus freaks, the mom, the poor icecream truck driver. I don't own it on DVD yet. but I will!
It ranks right up there with Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure and Dude Where's My Car in my favorite stupid funny movies list.

The Count was a good villian too! Or the Spaniard, Vicini.
"I am waiting for Vicini, I will no be moved!"

I agree with Finding Nemo. The first (and only) of Pixar's movies to take the crown of awesomeness from Toy Story.

Know what movie everyone else loves that I hate? Pulp Fiction. What a boring movie! I've started it twice, but I can only make it to the end of the first vignette.

I like Pulp Fiction, and I still think it feels self-indulgent. All of Quentin's work has a smug "ha ha! I'm a movie geek!" feel to it that occasionally rubs me the wrong way...when I'm not amused, of course.
