I am so easily amused

I know, a brother needs bread/cheese/dough/rent money, but it's still hilarious to see celebs that you're used to seeing with memorable roles in TV shows shilling for dollars in ads. Like, just now - BODIE! in an ad as a Fed Ex delivery man.

I got yo package right here, son.
That's all I hear. Poor thing.
Speaking of which, has Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje been in anything recent*? Because all I'll ever be able to remember him from will be Oz. Serious, this gif says it all:

And I'm now getting to the point where seeing Dean Winter in those Allstate commercials doesn't make me flash back to random moments from Oz
And i know Michael K. Williams has been on Boardwalk Empire and is now on Community. But he will forever be Omar to be. And so I'd LOVE to see him selling Grey Poupon. I don't know, that just came to me. An Omar could make that happen.
Feel free to throw up names of actors who've played iconic or memorable roles in your opinion, roles that have made it tough to see them play/ing anyone/thing else in commercials.
*IMDB.com says Lost. Okay, then.

Date: 2011-10-17 12:09 am (UTC)And yay! More Adebisi. I remember him playing a warlord in The Bourne Identity. Wasn't too far off from the Adebisi persona, which is why it must have slipped my mind.

Date: 2011-10-16 09:25 pm (UTC)There was another Oz alum in an ad recently ::racks brain:: ...ah yes, Blake Robbins aka Officer Brass (the basketball playing guard) is on that Hanes socks commercial where he dunks his kid's feet in paste.

I can't remember that guy very well. I'm a horrible fangirl.

Date: 2011-10-21 10:47 am (UTC)The one that springs to mind for me? Dennis Haysbert. I know he's been in things since, but, hell, my reaction to his Allstate commercials was always, "Man, you were the PRESIDENT, why are you doing ads...oh, yeah, right, actor."

Date: 2011-10-23 01:19 am (UTC)Of course. Makes so much sense. It's either some sort of adhesive or that thing is the most unusual birthmark ever, and I'm glad he decided to get it surgically removed so he could advance his acting opportunities.
Your Haysbert comment reminds me of jarring voiceovers as well. Jeff Bridges's VO work in commercials always throw me, because he constantly sounds one drawl away from The Dude.
