Ugh. I'm friggin stuffed on sticky rice and curry pumpkin & shrimp. My own fault, really. It was just so good! Lord. I'm going to have to ask one of my brothers to roll me into the shower and then roll me into bed, I can just tell.

Today's word, kids, is COLD! That's right. My Weather Pixie is no doubt freezing her nips off. I had to go to work this morning, bright and early at 8AM. Odd, because I distinctly told the guy that my hours were from 9AM. More than once. I said nothing, though. I needed the cash. So, because I'm trekking to the Bronx, I set my alarm for 5:30AM (an ungodly hour I wish to not see for another month or so, God willing). Went to bed at a reasonable 11PM, and woke up rather easily. My sleep was weird; I woke up feeling refreshed at 3:30AM and had to force myself back to bed.

But, yes, the alarm goes off, I get out of bed, get dressed, and head to the bus stop. Now, there's snow everywhere. I sorely underestimated when I said my area only got a foot of snow. Judging by the block my bus stop was at alone I'd say we got more like 16-18". Ridiculous. It was dark outside and I had to stand in the slushy street waiting for the bus at 6:15AM. I get on the bus and the ride that usually takes 15 minutes took double that. We were stuck at a light behind a line of cars for the longest time. Not sure why, but methinks the snow had something to do with that.

Fine. Get to the F at 6:45 or so. I know I'm going to be at least a couple of minutes late and I'm pissed at myself for not getting out of the house sooner. My family may have a tardiness problem, but I HATE getting to places late. I hate having to rush somewhere. I'd much rather get there a half hour early and just linger around than get there behind time.

Get off the D at 8:10. Better than I thought, but still late. I'm rushing, thinking maybe I might get chewed out or something. Hey, you never know. When I turn the corner I'm presented with a locked STS. That's right - managers have yet to show up. You know, until that very moment I was contemplating sticking out tax season with those losers. But when, for the second time, the managers failed to make it to the store on time, I said "fuck it; I quit". And meant it. You know those arseholes didn't show up until 9:30? 9 flickin' 30! If you know you have a store to open, and you know conditions are bad outside, make provisions to leave your house early or call your employees and tell them to show up later. That simple. I ended up chilling (literally) in the nearby BK, reading a nursing book and trying to figure out whether I should go the hell home. I called my mom and she amused me by saying I should go home and then call the managers up and "tell them what you think about them". Riiiiight.

When we went in (I was the only preparer there in the early morning) I told the manager that I was leaving. He didn't really seem to care at first, just sorta went "oh" and asked me if I'd gotten another job. I said yes, and we left it at that. After I'd done the first return of the day, the manager praised my work ((what was funny was that the guy whose return I did had a fraudulent W-2; we didn't discover this until after we'd submitted his information to the IRS and it'd gotten bounced back. The software picked up on that before the manager came over and transmitted the information AND the manager'd taken a look at the guy's material after I put it in his envelope awaiting transmission and spousal signature but he sent it anyway, so I'd say it wasn't my fault) and then called me in the back for a "talk". Basically he told me I was one of the best preparers they had, he was sad to see me go, and I have an open invitation to come back and work for them. Blah blah blah. Such BS. If I'm such a good preparer, the hell didn't he give me any hours? I listed myself as open and available this entire week excluding Thursday and he only have me 12 hours. And this is supposed to be the beginning of peak. The only thing I got out of STS was a pair of gloves (they were giving away gloves and a STS t-shirt to anyone who came in to have their taxes done) which I had to STEAL! and wear immediately, because the place wasn't heated properly. You believe that?? I'm so glad tomorrow's my last day there.

Left STS at 2PM and headed to Hunter to pick up my note taking schedule. I got about 10 hours a week of that, which should cover my transportation and cell phone bills for the month (barely). Embarrassed myself by oversleeping and nearly riding the train to the storage yard; the car cleaners had to come and wake me up. Then moseyed over to the dentist. Dr. Cheema? Totally cool. I felt bad, because I hadn't stepped foot in his office in one and a half years. Luckily the damage was minor. Only one more cavity! Score! I have to get most of my fillings redone, though. Ah. It's great to have insurance again. I intend to get as much work done as possible before it's up (my next b-day).

So, yup. That's my day. Now I'm just prepping for work. Tired as a muth. Good times.
