I was the proud owner of a maroon Ford Sable for about ten minutes.

My brother drove down to Florida in my grandfather's new car with the intention of driving back with my grandfather's old car, deed in his name and all. I had no problem with that arrangement - I've been sitting on my permit for the last three years and have no pressing need to get my license. When you live in New York City and you have a massive public transportation at your disposal and parking at a premium, you don't really have to drive around. It turns out that my grandparents wanted to give their car TO ME. They didn't know he wanted it, and afterward decided to give my brother the money to buy a used car of his own. This didn't sit well with him. He's now planning on selling it down in Florida, taking the proceeds, and using them towards buying a hipper used car. He never told me all this; my mother did. I was a little miffed. I'll most likely be working within two years and it'd be nice to have wheels without having to pay for them. Having a car would give me that much more incentive to get the damned license. As it is now, what's really stopping me is lack of funds for driving lessons. But, oh well. What might have been.

I finished Exquisite Corpse this morning. Uh...omigod. It ranks up there with American Psycho as a book I'll not read again. For the same reasons. I should have known, though. Right now I'm plowing through another Poppy Z. Brite book (I figure my library only has three of her stuff on the shelves, might as well finish the lot of them), The Value of X, and Harlan Ellison's Vic and Blood. I'm loving this. I have so much time to read and not be stressed out about lab practicals.
