- Saw Death at a Funeral today. It was a pretty awful movie, one of those films that has lots of preposterous gags and plot "twists" with uncomfortable and borderline (complete judgment call, as I'd say things crossed the border more than once) offensive comedy (oh, look!, Zoe Saldana's being sexually assaulted by Luke Wilson!; oh, look!, homophobic quips!). I did laugh more than once (and felt guilty after each one), but I glanced at my watch and calculated how much viewing time was left numerous times during the second half of the movie. And there was one of those groan-inducing sappy "bringing us all together" endings that made me want to chuck things at the screen. I should have stuck with watching How to Train Your Dragon instead; I will make it my business to watch that film sometime this week.

- Finished the latest Dresden book, Changes. It could have used more Thomas (then again in my book everything can use more Thomas), but it was a fairly solid read. As the title stated, BIG changes went down. And the ending...sweet Lord, Butcher is such a bastard. But I guess I know what everyone's going to pester him about at DCon. BTW - if you've read the book feel free to engage with me in the comments. I just wanted to keep this post free of major spoilers.

- I haven't been watching much television lately. I missed the Glee premiere but will try to catch it on iTunes before the next eppy. I have seen Supernatural more or less on the regular since the midseason premiere and, gotta say, I'm a tad disappointed in the way things are shaping up. Every week it's angst angst angst, like the writers are being taxed to draw things out to 22 episodes. The British model with series running 8-10 episodes at least concentrate things so there feels like there's less filler. And Supernatural was never a very strong show at any rate. Which begs the question: why am I bitching about a fairly weak show being somewhat crappy? To which I respond: but the pretty! So, there. I'd love to see Sam or Dean truly given it and become vessels before the season finale and have things play out that way.
