fredericks: (Coffee?)
This abbreviated week has been painless so far. Yesterday was full of fail because of my late night: I came home with a horrible headache, popped Tylenol and decided to take a nap, ended up waking up six hours later at 1:30am. I then got up, had some soup, and stayed awake until 4am before really napping until my alarm went off at 6. Joy. There is a chance that I might not have to work this weekend, so that's one possible plus. If that's so, the plan is to hit the gym and do some shopping, maybe make that trip to the Natural History Museum I keep putting off (I'm a little upset about having missed the Silk Road exhibit, nothing to be done about that now).

Career-wise I've been toying with going for my wound-ostomy nurse certification, after getting some needed words of praise and encouragement from a WOCN at work. It would require me to take a year's worth of wound and ostomy classes online, head down to Emory for two weeks of classes, hook up with two nurses for preceptorship hours, and then sit for the exam. It seems doable, if time intensive. The interesting things about wound/ostomy work for me is that you focus on a particular problem. Yes, it's a system issue in regards to dealing with the whole patient, but there's still a specific goal - heal this wound, care for this ostomy. Homecare is so broad in scope that sometimes I feel completely overwhelmed and over my head. I think the WOCN might work out better for me, in that it uses a lot of more quantitative problem solving skills. Perhaps. I am still kicking around grad school for my public health degree and have yet to work on my GRE.

I went to see Date Night today. For having two funny people starring it was a fairly mediocre movie. It really could have waited for a video or cable viewing. Obviously I had entirely too much time to kill this evening. The one good bit about my time in the theatre? Prior to the movie we were shown the trailer for The A-Team. That movie looks horrible (Liam Neeson, what the eff are you doing man?) but Patrick Wilson is in it looking awfully purty. My star crush on that man is RE-diculously strong. I might actually sit through A-Team just to revel in his beauty on the big screen. *le sigh*

Only tangentially related - how hot does Iron Man 2 look right now? Next Friday cannot get here fast enough.

Lastly (as this is a patchwork entry if ever there was one), Alan Cumming is holding a handful of cabaret/stand up shows over the next two months here in the city. I love this man to pieces. Hopefully I'll get a chance to check it out in June.
