Dec. 6th, 2010 09:56 pmYesterdy afternoon was spent with my mom, grandmother, aunt, and cousin in the suburbs of Philadelphia. We spent a couple of hours in New Hope, a smallish place that reminded me a bit of the College Hill portion of Providence RI prior to the influx of chain stores: small boutiques abounded with a sprinkling of wicca stores, and rainbow flags flew in the breeze. We lunched at a restaurant called Havana that, surprisingly enough, had only one Cuban item on the menu, a "cuban panini" that could vaguely be called authentic aside from the fact that it was called a panini. And it was served with french fries. And the pork tasted a little old. Not an overwhelming dining experience, but the staff was polite and the live music (again, not Cuban, more swing/big band in taste) was nice. I bought a nice fleece-lined knit hat, among other things. The hat was quite welcome today, seeing as it was freezing. Upshot? First snow of the season!
