fredericks: (A tender moment)

Yesterday was the last meeting of Nursing in the Media. Got an A on my paper, but left with the distinct impression that my teacher was still pissed off at me for not attending her convocation. I was to present Buber's "I-Thou" in class as it related to our final readings, but my mood was so deflated by the babbling I did in front of the woman on the elevator up (why do I always end up running into people I try to avoid in uncomfortable spaces?) that I more or less played shirking violet during the entire 2.75 hours. Fuck.

My friend told me that I was described as "funny, but sometimes her humor is hard to understand". She refused to tell me who said it. I think I know who it is so I'm not worried it's a snide remark. Touchdown?

I smell ozone but there's no rain visible from my window. Simply unfair.

I've been home with my father all day and I have no idea where he's been. Well, I have some idea. Is it too much to ask that I actually get the house solo? Apparently yes.

Represent: Chaucer has a blog. My favorite pick up line from this most recent entry? Art thou a disastrous poll tax? Bycause I feele a risynge comynge on. Mack on, Gef. Mack on.

eta - Hoshit, I changed my mind. My NEW favorite line: The preeste telleth me that we aren more than VII degrees of consanguinitee. Game on!
I literally squirted water out of my nose.

aeta - Fine, the whole damn thing is funny. Once more: --By my soule, thou art a verye mappe of helle. For thy face lyk the rivere Styx wil make me swere oothes neuer to be fforsworn, and thy embrace lyk the Lethe shal make me foryet al else, and lyk vnto the Flegeton thyn arse ys ON FYRE!

Chaucer is such a pimp. And I admire how that is one fucking high concept blog. I wonder if they have a Chaucer to Modern English language conversion engine?

I'm sure Babble has something in the works.
First time I happened upon it I thought it was undecipherable, but once you start reading it things fall into place. Like magic.

You need to join me on my corner.

But, yes, no doubt. When I get a little less crazy with the almost failing we'll do something.

My arse is not on fire. I cannot ever seem to type the 'other' word...without the 'r', so it pleases me to see it written with the 'r'. Ah, Chaucer. I'm thinking of the Bathmaid's Tale (was that it?) was sort of raunchy.

How did you feel about your paper? What sort of sources did you look at?

Chaucer brough the raunch hard. :)

How did I feel about my paper? Happy I was done. I painted myself into a hole with my topic selection. I couldn't find any works about nursing in science fiction. There were more than a couple of works about being a physician, but nursing isn't given the same consideration. I ended up talking briefly about science fiction in general and then the stereotypes about nursing and then talked about Star Trek TOS (of all things), talking about the nurse character they had on there for a brief moment. It was good enough to get the A I wanted, but it wasn't the direction I was looking to take initially. If I'd given myself enough time I would have read some more fiction books. As it is my sources were more general, about nursing theory and the like.
