Coffee. Coffee and smoked salmon. That's it.

Trip wasn't half bad (it wasn't half good either ::rimshot::), but I wish I'd gotten a chance to foot it around the city without being stuck with my cousins. I was going to attempt a no-holds barred write-up of my sojourn for posting but after finding it took me an hour to do three pages and I wasn't even in the hotel yet and realizing no one would really care except for myself I decided to let it be. It's a beautiful city, or at least it appeared gorgeous while I was there. I'd heard so much about rain being an issue in Seattle, and yet for the entire time I was there no precipitation to be found (of course I return to torrential rains in Providence...but what's new?). Mount Rainer was visible every day, and I must say it's wonderful to be able to look outside your window and see nature in its enormous, snow-capped glory every morning (ignoring the fact that Rainer is a dormant volcano and likely to blow, oh, in the near future).

Went to the Space Needle, which is entirely too hyped. It's like the Empire State in that regard. If you're a native of the city you don't feel compelled to pay $12 and stand on top of a building simply to stare out into the distance, but as soon as you go to a new city you feel the need to pay money to gawk. Twas a lovely view, though; you got a 360 glimpse of the area. I checked out the Pacific Science Center (which was excellent, even though some of the exhibits were really outdated), and dragged my aunt and her brood to the Aquarium (which was smallish but still chock-full of cute slimy critters; and we got to check out an X-Games movie feature at the attached IMAX).

Funny bits - there was a food fare going on in the Space Needle area and one of the stands was selling dipped strawberries (which also seems to be a Seattle specialty, because dipped berry stores were everywhere). Whoever came up with the names of some of the items needs to be put to work on a comedy show immediately. Three standouts: the "Berry White" - berries dipped in white chocolate, the "Hallie Berry" - berries dipped half in white chocolate and half in dark chocolate, and the real zinger, the "Marion Berry" - berries dipped in dark chocolate then sprinkled with powdered sugar.

Still exhausted from it all, and on top of that ended up pulling an all-nighter last night to work on my paper (its times like these that I rue not having a laptop). Wondering whether I should pull another all-nighter or attempt productivity in the morning. I'll decide soon enough.
