But I just got a call from the NYC Blood Center and, Jesus, I feel like I just got strong-armed into giving them platelets next week. I'm not sure if it's because I'm a major punk or they've hired former mobsters to man the phones.

I guess it takes a certain breed to call people up and get them to do stuff they weren't necessarily thinking of doing at the time.

Date: 2007-11-03 06:21 pm (UTC)I can understand the tactics, because blood doesn't last more than two-three weeks after being processed and platelets are good for three-five days if I recall correctly. You need tons of volunteer donors to keep things going. But you can't expect to keep calling up the nice souls that give semi-regularly and pester them until they come in. It's unseemly.
