He was like a teenager with a weekend away from his parents, and I'm surprised his handlers didn't pick up on that sooner and give him a quiet "eh, Gar, bud, maybe drinking from the weird girl's bottle isn't such a smart i- dammit! Quick! Call Poison Control!"
Hahaha! Yeah, I gotta agree with you. That whole flask thing was a bit excessive. But a good portion of the blame belongs on the fan who did it -- she knew better than that. It's fans like that which causes the rest of us to suffer.
Also, there was another fan who grabbed his ass when he posed for a picture with her -- and she was one of the Dragon*Con interviewers!
