Or, "we're screwed. SCREWED".

So, uhm, when do I start using my cash as fuel in my old-timey stove. Over/under, please?

“It became clear that this piecemeal, patchwork, case-by-case approach might not get the job done.”

You think? You think?

I'm glad I have several useful skills to barter in the days when we'll be using our dollar bills as toilet paper.

You know, I was sort of depending on yours to be the Voice of Reason and inform me that I was, in fact, flipping my shit over nothing. Goddamnit.

Sorry.

Although to look at it from another perspective -- this is simply a (rather violent) market correction, repairing the wild excesses of the last decade and things will shake out eventually.

better start making friends with people who can grow/hunt food and know how to build log cabins! The end is nigh, as the lady in the shoe store said. Crap, this means more people are gonna try and convert me, doesn't it?

I wish I could say something that might lift your spirits some, but I too think that we're all screwed -- we just haven't reached the end game yet. If this was a chess match, I'd be saying that checkmate is imminent and unavoidable.

It's my personal belief that this is what it felt like in America in the spring of 1930. Remember, the Great Depression didn't happen overnight, and the one that's coming isn't any different.

well, do keep in mind that we're still quite above the post 9-11 dow jones low of 8235.

and that's good, because i don't even have any cash to burn, just credit cards—and i don't see those generating much heat if lit (just lots of toxic chemicals).

i do think, though, that it is going to get much worse.
