Excluding Friday, this past week was not very exciting: I continued training for the new position while having to see patients during half the workday, came down with the *worst* cold sore ever (five days later it's healing but still painful as all hell), was formally introduced to the workforce under my new title with said core sore on my mug, and managed to not brain myself.

Friday was nifty: received my first paycheck under my new increased salary (score!). Also got to meet [livejournal.com profile] modpixie for the first time at a Flicker NYC Super 8mm event in Brooklyn where her short "A Doorman's Lullaby" had its premiere. It was amazing to finally meet her after LJ-conversing with her for all these years and also to see her baby on the screen, particularly after reading about all the hard work she put into it.

Saturday: attempted to be productive; epic fail. Decided to join WW again, because "hot mess" doesn't come close to describing my health situation at the moment (and hair situation too, come to think of it; I think I just need an intervention). Left with the intention of heading to SoHo, catching a film, and then doing some grocery shopping at Whole Foods. I did manage the film part, at least. I saw Humpday, the story of two male friends who decide to shoot an amateur porn film together (to badly paraphase one of the more hilarious lines from the movie "two straight guys filmed engaging in gay sex transcends porn!" ) and I really liked it. The film did a great job of underscoring the ways the ideals of masculinity and male heterosexual norms shape male relationships. It's definitely a conversation starter, if nothing else.

Sunday: BBQ. Complete laziness. I haven't even finished up my work from Friday. I actually think I'm in denial about the whole "work" thing tomorrow, anyway. But I posted something here, so I feel a little accomplished. Yey.
