My D*Con write-up is going to be quite short and probably lacking pics, because I was lazy with the camera over the weekend. Short version: took the train down (amazing! sleeper car FTW), felt much love for the Marriott and its workout room, spent Friday in smaller panels (some of v. dubious quality), Sat/Sun in big panels (line FAIL), wished I could have stayed through Monday evening to take in the last SG1/SGA panel, got delayed on the MARTA ride to the airport because some fool decided to take a walk on the tracks (I made a comic double-take when I saw this guy walking next to the train), had an uneventful flight back to NYC, am now wishing I did not have to go back to work tomorrow (more vacation, plz).

I'm probably going to start up a health/weight loss journal because I don't want to deal with filtering. This would be a place for me to vent a bit but also share info on the industry and various issues related to diet, exercise, and public perception of well-being and what exactly *makes* a person "healthy". Just a heads up for anyone who might be interested in friending me over there. Or to determine whether there's enough interest for me to just make a comm.

Links!
The Onion's AV Club on TV series not ruined when two characters hooked up. It wins props for mentioning Beecher/Keller from Oz (and, btw, Season 6? never happened. I don't need happy endings, especially for those two, but come on!) and Jack/Ianto from Torchwood (Jack/Gwen, however, would have brought things to a screeching halt), but major failpoints for Niles/Daphne from Frasier, as Nile's pining added so much to the earlier seasons that I lost complete interest after they eloped.

Cracked shares Six fake foods they think you'll wish you didn't have in your kitchen after following the link. They post a YouTube video of surimi (fake "crabmeat") being prepared but, honestly, it doesn't look too horrible. And I say this as a person who likes surimi and will continue to eat it.

Only 359 more days until Dragon*Con 2010!

If you make a comm about health and weight loss tracking, I would definitely join.

DragonCon, yay! I have never made it there but always want to go.

I think I'm going to go the comm route. I'm still planning what I want to do, but I figure I'll start the heavy lifting after this w/e.

DCon, definitely yey! You should try to make it out one year. There's always tons of stuff to see and do.

I'd be interested in the health journal. I find it helpful to me to see someone else's journey with weight loss and healthy lifestyle changes/challenges.

I think I might end up making a person journal and also a comm. I just want to discuss stuff like weight loss pills and crazy diets with other like-minded folks.
