I worked this past weekend, but it was still made of a touch of awesome. I initially had four patients to see and was slated to work as backup for the new nurse, however I wasn't needed and most of my visits fell through. I ended up being send downtown to cover for a nurse who had a family emergency, and the patient visits were easy as some task that's remarkably easy. Sunday I was done with the bulk of my work by 1pm and went to Whole Foods to grab lunch and wrap up my charting. Laptop was off and I was back home by 3:30pm. Lots of win there.

Today was awkward, because one of our colleagues died unexpectedly over the weekend and the office was basically in shock. I wasn't close with the individual in question, but I did interact with him more or less on a daily basis and so, yeah, weird. Awkward (types the emotionally stunted one). I'm not sure if we're planning anything for his family or if we're going to do a memorial meeting? Hmm. Moving on.

Reading front: currently I'm more than halfway through Shooting Stars the book about LeBron James (and don't get me started on how disconcerting it is to read an semi-autobiography about a guy five years younger than me). It's a breezy read, but nothing deeper than what I'd read about James in Sports Illustrated, ESPN The Magazine, or seen on his 60 Minutes episode. I also have the new Stephen King book waiting in the wings, but as that thing is large and heavy enough to be dubbed a lethal weapon I don't think it'd make very good commuter reading. I do mean to re-read the Codex Alera series, but trying to make my way back through Furies of Calderon has reminded me how much I didn't take to the book initially and how much the seeming lack of forethought in the series and oblivious continuity annoyed me as I made my way through subsequent books. I'm having a hard time sticking with the first book at this point. Meh.

I'm off from Wednesday, and I'm quite stoked. Supposed to go to a conference Friday and Saturday, but as I don't think I'm getting any continuing education credits if things are boring Friday I'm going to bail early. Other than that, just going to relax and catch up (*snort*). Good times.

I've seen that new Stephen King book at some of the local stores. You'll have to let me know how it is.
Also that reminds me I need to excavate my copy of the first Dark Tower book and restart/finish it sometime.

I'll definitely give you a heads up once I start reading it. I'm hearing good things about it, so that's encouraging.
