- Shaq Vs. is a hilarious show. This is because Shaq is a damn funny man. The staged commentary is annoying, but whenever it's just Shaq and the athlete of the episode it's golden.

- Haven't been keeping up with the writing goal. I checked out three books on writing from the library during the first week of the year. Pages read: two. Pages written: zero. Oh yeah!

- There are no Jets fans in NY, just disappointed Giants fan.

- I haven't had as much gym time as I'd like during the last couple of weeks, but I have been hitting the workout DVD (Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred is guaranteed to fuck you up 20 minutes a day or your money back) and the Wii Fit. Thus my workouts have been more balanced (at the gym I overemphasize cardio because that equipment is easier to use) and my body a *lot* more sore. I have, like, no upper body strength. Push ups are embarrassing. But I see some progress. Always a good thing.

- This will be the last week of contract negotiations if all goes well. Tomorrow I leave work at 1:30 to head downtown to restart negotiations, and if we can't finish up I'll most likely be out from work all day Tuesday and Wednesday. What I've learned? people in committees can be really stupid. Dealing with said stupidity makes a person hungry. Weight gain? inevitable.

- I haven't read a book in a two weeks. Joy.

- My eyebrows are quite wild nowadays. Long live the Friedas!

How's the Wii Fit. We keep debating getting it.

What books did you check out from the library?

I think our generation is geared towards needing short-term rewards, and the whole Wii Fit set-up is tailor-made to make a body feel good for doing, say, 20 good-form pushups or more than 30 minutes of activity by cuing up music and having some flashing lights. Sounds funny, but I'm sort of serious. I usually am not motivated enough to do 60 crunches in a row at one sitting, but once I know I'm going to "bank" more Wii Fit points I can make myself do them.

On a more sensical note - it has a nice variety of activities that are surprisingly effective. And it keeps track of your weight and progress. I don't like that it's geared towards making a BMI of 22 the "ideal", but you can ignore that. It's fun and you'll sweat; I definitely recommend it.

The books I got were:
*What If? Writing Exercises for Fiction Writers
*The Longman Guide to Writing Beginning Fiction
*Fast Fiction - Creating Fiction in Five Minutes

The writing exercise book seems the most promising. I just have to actually, you know, use it.

Woo Friedas unite!

Yeah, I hear you on the write/read ratio goals...I'm way behind too. So have some encouragement to keep at it: YOU CAN DO IT!

Good luck with contract negotiations. Sounds stressy.

Committees are ridiculous. The politics, the wonders of GroupThink, high school-like cliques...makes me want to holler. But all wrapped up, thank goodness.

*grin* The Friedas, I'm sort of afraid to tame them at this point.

We need to do something about this writing dilemma. My procrastination is beginning to piss me off.
