The only MCR vids I've watched were for Helena and Ghost of You. I love them, but the drama doesn't come naturally to those guys. When Gerard's crying out for Mikey on the beach in Normandy I can't help but cackle, even though the cinematography is amazing. Cancer is a bit out of left field when you consider the tone of TBP, imo, which makes me wonder about the sincerity of the lyrics. But, yeah, I'll take it, cynicism and all. I've dealt with too many folks with terminal diagnoses not to feel exactly where those words are coming from.
Dragon-Con is in Atlanta. It is perpetually gonzo, crowded, chaotic, and awesome. It makes every Labor Day weekend feel like a geek retreat. Check out the website and this year's Con Guide. It tends to be more sci-fi than comic focused, but there really is a little bit something for everyone.
Since we're on a MCR theme, gotta share that Gerard came down to Dragon-Con as a mundane two or three years ago and left the fangirls all a-twitter. It's damn near impossible to blend into a crowd when your hair is dyed a bright color and you have a single with a video that plays on MTV, god bless his nerdy shy heart.
