You're forgetting one important thing about your job that makes it much, much more tiring than mine: you have to deal with customers. *shudder* I once worked in a grocery store as a stocker and bagger. I only had to work six hours a day at most, but I would always come home dead tired. Even just four hours of dealing with customers is much worse than spending eleven hours in the lab for me. Worse, I almost always had to work beginning about 3:00 in the afternoon, so that pretty much shot my whole day to hell, as I couldn't enjoy the time leading up to three with the prospect of going to the store hanging over my head. Not that I'm capable of enjoying mornings that much even when I don't have to work later...

As for my job using more than two of my brain cells, you'd be surprised at how little thought my job requires. Basically, all you need to do brain-wise is to read instructions, which aren't any harder to understand than a cookbook recipe. The main challenge of my job for me is that I'm not so good at the lab techniques (my hands shake). Still, I can manage most of the time, with a lot of practice...
