Don't cha love watching train wrecks?

I picked up Le Guin's "Earthsea" set because someone had mentioned to me the fact that they were making a mini-series of it on Sci-Fi. I hadn't read any of Le Guin's work before that and I figured a Hugo-winner was a good enough place to start. The first three books were excellent, the rest? eh. Haven't made myself finish them all. I popped on over to the Sci-Fi channel's BB for the show and...it's always great to see people lambasting something in its home, you know? It would seem that the writers and director took major liberties with the story, to the point where Ursula Le Guin herself has problems with it. That they made a big deal of sticking the usually awesome Danny Glover in the role of a person whose scenes are sparse (significant, yes, but) in the book means they've really changed things around. And KRISTEN KREUK? Ugh. Gouge out my eyes. Reason NOT to watch. They've added a love interest in a place there wasn't.
Just...read the board. Have fun. It's nice to read people's gripes.
