There's a power problem at Sucker Tax Service. Apparently our "experienced" (read: "he's done this stuff for one year in Virginia") manager didn't bother to check whether the juice running through the facility could support 20 computers and necessary peripherals operating at once before he set up shop. We now know it can't. Spent 4.5 hours there today, only .5 of that actually working on the program. The lights flickered off and on, occasionally blew out, and there was a recurrent smell of burning wires in the air. I don't know if I'll find it in me to go all the way there tomorrow, especially since the man persists in not learning my name and didn't even know I'd been there every.damn.DAY. so far. Bastid. Lack of a schedule-making bastid besides.

Unrelated - you know when you're engrossed in something you enjoy and you finish and there's just an emptiness? Huge, gaping, and slightly terrifying (Or maybe not. Maybe said thing simply distracts you from the emptiness that was there all along?)?

No? Okay then.

What I'm trying to say is that I read Craig Thompson's Blankets today, on the ride home from STS, and that's the feeling it invoked in me. It was a surprisingly fast read, but interesting. It just...was. Very good illustrations, nice story, griping commentary (or what I took to be commentary). Excellent way to spent 2 hours.
