We're stuck in a heat wave. I woke up drenched in sweat and terribly out of sorts. Lack of central air is making me wilt. Still no grant check. They're killing me by doing that. I hope it wasn't given to the incorrect address by my mailman.

I've started going back to the gym again, and the attempt to return to routine is working a number on my leg. My knee sounds like one of them there Cereal People, Crack or Snapple or whoever the hell. I need to get a better pair of sneakers; I purchased my current pair more than three years ago and they're worse for wear.

I keep hoping that the Lucifer GNs I ordered from Amazon will be delivered to my house by Mike Carey in that anniversary promo they have going. But...I'm not holding my breath.

My giggle moment of the day - Someone rang our front doorbell and the three of us in the living had that immediate "who the fuck?" expression on our face, because anyone who knows us knows to come to the back door. Mom crept up there and peeped out, then came back in with a chagrined look because she had no idea who the people were. I shrugged it off, and then later on she said "It was those Mormons", because I guess she'd remembered what I told her about the missionaries. I had to control myself from giggling uncontrollably, and since then I've been fighting the urge to see "Latter Days" again. Blockbuster never seems to have it in stock and I've sworn off Netflix due to lack of funds. I think I might just have to cave in and purchase it, even though the B-plot does suck.

"Jeffrey"'s playing on LOGO now. I've never seen more than the first 20 minutes of this movie, even though it has Steven Weber and Jean-Luc Picard in it, two guys I used to go absolutely ga-ga over. I remember trying to watch it back when I was in HS and it was playing on Blowtime, and my dad coming down and giving me the evil eye once he found out it was about gay characters. I wish he'd given me the evil eye because it featured mediocre acting, a stereotypical "tragic AIDS" plot, and cookie-cutter characters instead. Eh. Let's see if I can sit through it.

Hehe...Jeffrey's pretty cute...one of my favorite lines from a movie is in there though:

Keven Nealon's character: And after the parade?
Picard's character: Angelique is going to remove her penis!

HAHAHAHAHA! That kills me everytime. I think it was the way Picard said it!!

How are you? Just wanted to message you quick and let you know I've started a new journal. This is Angelus. Good to talk to you again. I added you to my new friends list if you'd care to do the same. Looks like I've got some reading to do to see what you've been up to these last few months.

Hope you're doing ok.

LandoGardner! What's going on?

I know you've been busy, which is why I haven't been needling you like I used to do. That and you're, uhm, never online and stopped posting. You're added. I need more geek in my life. *grin* Post with some frequency, dammit.

Are you kidding? I need more needling. How else am I gonna get anything done? Well oddly enought I've been "online" just not communicating. But that needed to change so viola.

hehe. And I'll take your geek comment as a compliment cause I know you're nice like that. And of course I am one. :)

Hey, this is Babylon mod. Sorry to barge in here, but you like Latter Days too? There's little else I've gushed about lately, all though it's cooled down a bit now. Mormon missionaries are hawt. ;)

"Like" doesn't quite encompass it. I watched it a while ago, but it's one of those movies that had such an impression on me that I actually took the time out to write a review. Usually I'm too lazy to muster anything besides a couple of lines of bitching/lurve.

There's quite a bit about the movie that gets under my skin in the bad way, such as the B-plot about the girl that can supposedly sing so well that the head of Arista calls her personally because the actress cannot sing. Well, she can't sing well enough to justify all the hackneyed hoopla. That and the fact it was all contrived so that she could sing the song that brought the two lovebirds back together. And Jacqueline Bisset...sweet Jebus, that woman can ham up a screen, can't she?

But the main plot stays with me. The acting, particularly of Steve Sandvoss, was stellar. I keep hoping to see Sandvoss in more work. The mixture of innocence and searching he brought was extraordinary. And I thought the take on religious "tolerance" (or lack thereof) was great. I'm always a sucker for those type of stories.

And, uhm, let's not forget the hawt. No, not at all. *grin*

I have been part of christianity for many, many years (went to summer camps, religious school etc.) and have hidden my true self (sexuality) a few times because of this so the film really struck a chord with me. A while ago I was also about to join the LDS church, thank God I changed my min. Nowadays I know that organized religion is bullshit and there's no secret passageway to get to heaven. I believe in God and follow what I believe is right, and pray every bloody night (have for as long as I can remember) and my love and relationship to Him is true and pure, not forced and pressured with fright. So yeah, it hit close to home and then I am a bit of a romantic (haven't always been), mostly for gay love. Not too much into straight relationships.

I actually play Steve in [livejournal.com profile] after_celebrity, he's a lot of fun, but there's very little info on him out there. He will be in two upcoming episodes of The Insides and a film with Jennifer Aniston etc. called Rumor Has It. It's due to be released in December. I'm also hoping he'll get on something else so the rest of the world can discover his talent. He's intriguing. He studied mandarine chinese and aimed for a career in international economics, but then realised it wasn't what he wanted to do so when he go into Harvard he studied litterature, poetry and prose while doing stage acting on the side (Hamlet for example). He's also directed a few plays he wrote himself. I think he's shopping around a script he's made right now. We'll see how it ends up. :) I hope it works out anyway.

That's a beautiful thing. Although it's only fair to note that not all religion stresses the "we are right! they are wrong!" POV - the Unitarian Universalists (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unitarian) are an example of a worshipping body that embrace all religions.

I more or less consider myself agnostic nowadays, but having grown up in the Catholic church (and having gone to school in a Lutheran establishment - talk about irony) I tend to find the ceremony soothing. The chanting, the instrumental work, the smell of sandalwood and assorted other incense, the ritual and roteness of it all lent (and still lends) my life some well-needed order, since everything else seems so chaotic. Once I was able to get exposure outside of neighborhood I figured that something wasn't quite right. I came to the personal conclusion that I believe in a "new Testament" God, if anything. A God of love. Of course, my belief in a God/Gods/Higher Being changes almost daily. I find myself content to try, however feebly, to "love my neighbor as myself" and to "do unto others as I'd have done unto me". The rest I search for.

Sandvoss! He really is amazing. I do hope he ends up with more work under his belt really soon.

It's so funny that you commented on my bit on Latter Days. I forgot to mention - the evening I came home to your comment I'd gone back to Blockbuster Video in order to look for the movie. Finding the case on the shelf but no movie, I went to the front desk, where I was informed that the movie was missing. *sigh* I perked up a bit when the clerk told me they had a copy for sale for only 14.99. Whee! So I head over to the sale racks and...no movie. The clerk comes over to help me and still no movie. She suspects it might have been an inventory mix-up and she said she'd look for it and hold it for me if she can locate it. I'm not holding my breath. I might actually have to fork over the 18.74 plus shipping at Amazon.com to get it. Damn.

Yeah, I love the togetherness in church and the traditions and everything, but that's not a good enough reason to be part of one when you don't really agree with a lot of their believes. I just don't think I need a church to love and follow God. At the end of the day I'm still the one deciding what I do about my life. I feel pressured, even if the church is open and embracing. I guess it's not for everyone. I can handle the chaos. :)

No way! Man, that sucks! I do hope you get it! And I hope I'll get mine some day. The only one I can find is one of asian region, but it's cheap and I'm sure it will work on either our dvd or my computer.

Yo know, I downloaded a few season5 episodes to my laptop (including ep 10 and 11) and they must be two of my favourite episodes, but now the sound has suddenly gonw dead. It died right before I was going to play the last two episodes, so I had to download them on my PC instead. Arrr. So now I'm downloading the entire season on the PC instead. I so don't have the space. lol You know, I had the season 1 dvd collection, but had to leave it in England when I moved, and now the only collections I can find here is season 3 and 4 and the uk version full series. Why would they stop selling things? Oh well, rant over. lol You've seen the unaired episodes, right?

Unaired episodes? Of QAF?
Here I was thinking there were additional episodes from previous seasons that Cowlip never got around to distributing. *grin*

I've seen up to 510, which is airing this weekend in the US. The rest I can wait for. Unfortunately I've heard enough of spoilers to basically figure out where things are headed, but I'll going to refrain from actually *seeing* it - you know, so I can savor the show until the end.

oooh, good thing you told me. I won't say a word. You can make your first Mikey post when you've seen the last episode if you want.

You've seen UK, right? Have any thoughts on it?

No, I've only seen one episode I'm afraid. :/

Where have you advertised as of yet? There's [livejournal.com profile] community_promo,[livejournal.com profile] liveinthenow, [livejournal.com profile] queer_as_folk, [livejournal.com profile] character_rpg, [livejournal.com profile] rpg_promo - these are places where you generally don't have to get permission to advertise your comm, although you should read the comm rules to make sure they don't have size limitations. I'd recommend advertising at [livejournal.com profile] queerasfolkfans as well (it is the biggest QAF comm on LJ), but there you have to make sure to ask the mod for permission BEFORE you post the ad. E-mail her beforehand. She tends to get snippy if people just up and make RPG posts.

Then there are a myriad of GreatestJournal comms you can post at, since the vast majority of GJ's I've come across were RPG related. Set up a GJ account and check out their QAF and RPG promo comms. Then place ads there.

Another thing I'd suggest, and this is a very humble suggestion - ask people for writing samples. And ask them what they know about the character they want to play. The most frustrating thing is getting someone who seems like a great RPer and cannot maintain character or is prone to drama at the drop of a hat.

That's true. You know, if I make you a co-mod... you could help. If you want. :)

I've posted in all of those comms, except for liveinthenow, queer_as_folk (I think) and queerasfolkfans (it said no in the rules). And I've posted in several others. Check out the Babylonrpg_mod LJ userinfo, there are all the comms I've posted too.

I'll give you a hand getting off the ground, if you want, but as to actually modding... let me think about it. I got burned pretty badly by the people I was playing with last time so I'm a little hesitant to jump right in.

I advertised at [livejournal.com profile] queerasfolkfans for my comm, but I ran it past the mod via e-mail first. Usually if you're polite and tell her exactly what you're planning on doing she doesn't have a problem with it.

As for the GJ comms - do you have a graphic or banner for the game? I'm absolutely no good at that sort of stuff. Those usually help grab people's attention. I'll help you with ad'ing there if you wish.

I will make one and check with the mod. Well, you can take your time, honey. We're in no rush right now. Blah. Wish I had Brian's talent in... hmm... wait, I do.. heh

Sigh. I just watched the entire season 5 right through, all though I skipped 12 and 13... I like the ending of 511 better. :)

No, I think he'd be quite impressed. ;) I will see what I can do with it. What do you think is most important to add? What would draw people?

As Ted says: "What makes fags prefer one club over another?" What makes a player prefer one game over another?

I have no clue. You do have the eye-candy down, Ms. Kinney. *grin* That ad will work to get people interested, but you have to have a hook of some sort. I say we advertise for two weeks or so, and then see what feedback we get. Why not make a set date for the game to begin? and put it in the advertisement somewhere?

Yes, but when is the last episode aired in the US? I'm right now joining communities on greatestjournal (already had a rarely-used journal there) and will set up an ad as soon as I know what I want.

I'm thinking more people might be interested as the end draws nearer. You're only on episode 10 or 11 in the US, right?

Right. Can't wait! :) Damn, so long.. :/

I got a mail today from someone who asked if I could hold Justin till tonight. I said sorry, I can't, but that he should still be available when she returns.

BTW, I have made some changes in the rules and how to apply. Check the mod journal (babylonrpg_mod). I think it's easier to understand now. :)

You seriously think so? Wow, I am touched. Um, I mean... heh I know. *clears throat* I have posted promo in every bloody rpg/commpimp comms on Greatestjournal, and a few new ones on LJ, and some old that allows daily posting.

I'm very pleased that you like it, Mikey. :)
