I want a Dell, and other randomness
Jan. 20th, 2004 11:20 pmOkay, while I much prefer the heat to the cold, this is taking things a wee bit too far, isn't it?
Someone's getting a huge laugh out of all of this, I'm sure.
--------
I spent a good amount of today building PCs at Dell.com instead of working. Mom said I had a green light to purchase one (or, rather, I had the green light to build one and *she'd* pay for it), so I was super psyched. I mentioned it all to dad while I was at work (in passing, to be honest: I called home to speak to mom and she wasn't there) and he seemed cool with it. But in the three hours between the phonecall home and my mentioning it to mom he apparently said no, because mom said it was a no-go. Now, I wouldn't have a problem if the full-stop was called because of a lack of funds, which is the reason bro and I managed to drag out of him. But I know my father. It's not. He's peeved because we discussed this purchase with mom before we talked to him about it. Total ego trip. Mind you, I told dad my plan to run the transaction ASAP in order to get the free RAM and memory upgrades being offered (the deal ends tomorrow) and he said nothing against it. In fact he actually said that was fine and he asked me to check out a PC being offered on ShopNBC before I made a move, because he thought that on was a better deal. So I waited, and it wasn't. I should have taken mom's credit info right there over the phone in the store instead of waiting until I got home so dad could change his mind. I didn't get totally swept away by the idea of having a good (working) PC, but I was excited enough to be a mite tiffed myself when dad pulled a spoiled child on us. Oh well.
