The stomach pains, that had appeared to cut me some slack, came back today with a vengeance. Today's pains were all nerves, I think. Well, I could directly trace them to nerves. My day started out quiet enough. I'd set my alarm to meet my aunt for lunch, but as soon as I got up and started to get dressed she called and cancelled. I was disappointed but oddly happy: I like her, but she has a way of making fun of my life choices in not-too-kind manner. I'm all for the friendly sarcasm, but there are limits. Also there was my leg to consider: it's been acting up, throbbing whenever I get up from sitting for extended periods in ways that make me happy they invented arthritis Tylenol.

Right. I got up and started preparing to go to the library. I received a summer reading assignment from Pace (read a book on nursing history and write a 5 page review on it) and figured I might as well get going on it. When I paged through my packet from them I came to find out that I forgot to get my medical stuff and CPR certification done. And it's supposed to be due August 1st. Argh! The suck is that I don't have insurance so I have to pay for my titers and physical out-of-pocket, and the Professional CPR class is not free. I had to stick my pride and ego in the bottom drawer and ask my mom for financial assistance. I knew she'd say "sure", but I thought she'd at least lecture me about "my future" or start up about "what are you going to do?" Small favors. Long story with personal agony shortened - I scheduled the CPR and the physical, and hopefully I can hold out on the titers until the price lowers (the medical stuff is going to be done through the school's health services, the CPR at a Red Cross chapter). Never did get the book in order to do my book report.

Family's planning a trip to AC tomorrow. I really didn't want to go - I'm broke and with my leg acting up the way it is walking around isn't going to be fun. I got guilted into it, though. Gah. I've never been there during daylight hours before and I've never been there with my siblings, though, so this should be an experience.

I'm finishing up Anthony Bourdain's Kitchen Confidential and, boy, am I going to be more observant when I go to restaurants. I love this guy, and I just saw a commercial for his show on the Travel Network. His new show, anyway; I remember him being on a show where he went around the globe sampling cuisine. Great book, and a fast read.
