Full blast

The love continues. These responses are more wordy than the other ones I had up, but that's not to say there's more love present. The love is high all around. Reading response posts and thinking on this has made me realize how lucky I am to know y'all (you know who you are).

On atraxia re: what I admire about you
a. You seem to have such a warm personality; the first time I met you I felt instantly at ease. Have to admit, I'm envious.
b. You're open with your hopes, fears, and wishes on your journal in a way that makes a body feel connected to you. Your honesty is refreshingly...honest, for lack of a better word.
c. You have such a great way with words. I enjoy hearing you talk about something you're interested in. Hells, I enjoy hearing you talk about things you don't like as well. Or I would, if I knew anything that fit the criteria. I get the feeling you're well-mannered enough to not come out and say you dislike something strongly. Or, rather, you *word* it so the other party isn't offended. Diplomatic. Yes, that's what I was looking for.

On modpixie re: what I admire about you
a. Your knowledge of and passion for cinema (duh). I wish I had something in my life I could say I was half as engaged with as you and film.
b. You're working on The Ballad of Burd Janet. You haven't let problems with crew or actors or locations or funding stop you. I read your posts about the process and I keep going "wow" in my head. I recall you posted a little while back about being very discouraged and then realizing that some director (whose name I've forgotten) took X amount of years to produce *his* film, and you seemed to get a second wind. I gave you a slow clap into a standing thundering ovation in my head. This is sappy, but I'm so damn proud of you and your continuing work.
c. You're just really nice. Isn't that admirable enough nowadays?

On melancthe re: what I admire about you
a. You're the wenchiest mommy around. :) (you know I had to put something like that up here)
b. You strike me as quite open-minded, and I love reading your take on things in your journal and via feedback
c. You're hella supportive. Your kind words have done much for me over the year(s? it's been years, hasn't it?)
d. Your interests are very diverse, and you don't make apologies for liking what you like and/or who you like (*ahem* teh Marco *ahem*).

You *amuse* me

All of the paperwork is done on my end re: jobbyjob. Barring failure of my med exam and my background check I should be good to go. I'm nervous, and I'm combatting the jitters by trying to review as much of GI as possible (the manager said GI ailments tend to end up on the floor more than anything else). My aunt seems more excited about the work prospect than anyone in my household, and she's more or less strong-arming me into going to church before my first day of training. I'd rather head out to St. Barts but she has this "day" planned where she intends to invite my aunts from SI and Jersey over and then we go to her church Saturday evening. I'm meh about it - pretty sure she goes to a Catholic church and the RCs and I haven't seen eye-to-eye for more than five years - but I'm touched she cares enough to organize something. I'll go along and try not to feign paying attention.

I'd like to say that it's obvious the secret ingredient in the brand of jalapeno-infused hummus Costco carries is CRACK, because I cannot.put.it.down. I had some hummus for breakfast, hummus as snack, and then I skipped dinner entirely to indulge in hummus and crackers. Soooo good.

Depending on how rested I am I can usually make out the bastardized middle English being used with little fuss. This time around I had to read it aloud, and I was broadsided by the jokes. Seriously, the lions? That one just crept up on me and when I figured out where it was going I laughed so hard had to put my head down for a second. Only thing I can't figure out is the reference in the last couple of lines. If anyone follows the link and reads the entry and figures something out please let me know.

The Halloween entry from Sir John Mandeville, Knight of St Albans (that amuses me to no goddamned end; sort of an in-joke) is also chuckle-worthy.

ESPN.com's Sportsnation polls are gnarly. You vote on whatever and then the results are tallied and given by location. Maybe this is my nerdiness shining through, but I can't get enough of them. It was funny as all hell to see the answer to the question "Which QB should the Cowboys start - Bledsoe or Romo?" Romo won Texas and most of the southern and western states, but the New England states were all about Bledsoe. Who says loyalty is dead?

Some more things that are gnarly? The LeBron James Nike commercials. Genius!
