More President's Day Days, please!
Feb. 16th, 2009 06:23 pmMAJOR big-ups to three day weekends. Happy happy times.
Best part of the NBA All-Star weekend was, per usual, everything outside of the actual All-Star Game. Nate Robinson's dunk over Dwight Howard? (link to youtube page). Ametaphor for visualization of kryptonite defeating Superman [think I'm giving those two too much credit there]? Seriously, NBA players reaching new heights of awesome. Dwight Howard going into the telephone booth to change was also pretty nifty. I do agree with the PTI guys and think they should have given co-Dunk Champ props instead of having the fans pick one or the other, but whatever. If LeBron competes next year? Nth degree of the awesome.
And Shaq's dance with the Jabbawockeez?. Teh hotness. Especially if they really did improv it like he said they did.
Since I'm on the sports-related kick, the winning most recent Sportscenter commercial: going up?".

I took my grandmother (mom's mom) to see "Sleepwalk with Me", a one man show by comedian Mike Birbiglia where he talks about his sleepwalking and how it impacted his life. Like Mr. Birbiglia my grandmother also suffers from a REM sleep disorder, and she's mentioned wanting to check out the show a couple of times, so I figured we could make it a night out. The show was hilarious and poignant in parts, overly sappy at the end (the last portion did feel tacked on, even if it did happen as he described), and she laughed quite a lot, which made me consider it a success. I can think of no better praise for the experience than: "'Sleepwalk with Me': the show my grandma loved".
And, my, Mike has the most *glorious* smile. Not that it distracted me or anything; just sayin'.

What I wouldn't give for a massive snowstorm. Big fluffy piles of white and quiet streets. Shoveling and shoveling with periodic breaks for hand defrosting and sips of cacao-heavy chocolate. Winter's been letting me down.
ETA - 1) I just bought my IMAX tickets for Watchmen. I rolled the Happiness die and got +6.
2) I am wearing my own Snuggle. Damn thing's just a robe worn open side to the back. Give me moneyz, plz.
3) Watching Mike Rowe is fun. *Listening* to Mike Rowe? grown-up fun.
and, HA!, eta ETA 4) I got a major haircut. It's now short enough that ponytails are not an option. Which is good, because I save that much more time in the morning! just comb it back and go.
