It's startling how Sunday's blizzard has managed to paralyze this city: cars are still stranded on streets, roads remain unplowed, and public transportation options continue to be spotty. I know it all stems to a simple underestimation of how much effort should have been put into the initial attempts at snow removal, but here we are going into Thursday and it's tough as hell to get around.

I worked this past weekend and I requested today and Thursday off. Barring being called into work on mandatory overtime due to us being short-staffed tomorrow, there's a good chance I might get the five day weekend I've been dreaming about. After having to deal with the ridiculousness over the last three days a mini-vacation into the new year is very welcome. I had to go out to see patients Tuesday, but the folks I saw were very nice. AND the little old lady I saved for my last visit because she sounded so adorable over the phone actually warmed a mug of apple cider and made little cracker appetizers for me. The woman was sharp as a tack and healthy as hell (didn't need a nurse to be honest, but that's an issue I'll have to bring up with my coworker on Monday), and I left her home with a smile on my face.

Today I might venture out to Barnes & Noble and Best Buy to look for some entertainment. Or I might just veg out underneath the covers sipping orange juice and tea as I try to stave off the sore throat I feel coming on. Yay.
